"SLOW BLEED"?!!!1
The latest stalking point being catapulted by the Flying Monkeys of the Pundit-in-Chief-- "slow bleed"-- being perpetrated AS IF it is a Democratic term for their own policy, shows how venal, vile, vicious, heartless and UNAMERICAN the Republican extremists really are.

If there was any doubt.

UNAMERICAN.

:thumbsdown:

6. Thank you bigtree. Good post. Kinda surprising there isn't more outrage about this one.
Maybe people have bullshit fatigue? This one is so -- literally -- bloodthirsty, cold-blooded, mercenary (on TOP of being pure propaganda) that it makes me want to :puke: :wtf:

How can ANYONE who still sides with Republicans live with themselves?

5. this new meme invented at Politico.Com
Then claimed by the RWers as their new catchphrase.

Watch out, it won't be the last time this new "mainstream, bipartisan" outlet will carry water for the RWers. Mike Allen and Jim Vandehei, cunning Warriors Against Gore, are involved. Watch them claim to be moderates while trashing their own.

Feh, I'm cynical and pessimistic. Just MO...

House Democrats' New Strategy: Force Slow End to War

By: John Bresnahan
February 15, 2007 07:00 AM EST

Top House Democrats, working in concert with anti-war groups, have decided against using congressional power to force a quick end to U.S. involvement in Iraq, and instead will pursue a *slow-bleed* strategy designed to gradually limit the administration's options.

Led by Rep. John P. Murtha, D-Pa., and supported by several well-funded anti-war groups, the coalition's goal is to limit or sharply reduce the number of U.S. troops available for the Iraq conflict, rather than to openly cut off funding for the war itself.

The legislative strategy will be supplemented by a multimillion-dollar TV ad campaign designed to pressure vulnerable GOP incumbents into breaking with President Bush and forcing the administration to admit that the war is politically unsustainable.

As described by participants, the goal is crafted to circumvent the biggest political vulnerability of the anti-war movement -- the accusation that it is willing to abandon troops in the field. That fear is why many Democrats have remained timid in challenging Bush, even as public support for the president and his Iraq policies have plunged.

<snip>

The House strategy is being crafted quietly, even as the chamber is immersed this week in an emotional, albeit mostly symbolic, debate over a resolution expressing opposition to Bush's plan to "surge" 21,500 more troops into Iraq.

<snip>

“What we have staked out is a campaign to stop the war without cutting off funding" for the troops, said Tom Mazzie of Americans Against Escalation of the War in Iraq. "We call it the 'readiness strategy.'"

<snip>

If the Senate does not approve these new funding restrictions, or if Senate Republicans filibuster the supplemental bill, Pelosi and the House Democratic leadership would then be able to ratchet up the political pressure on the White House to accede to their demands by "slow-walking" the supplemental bill. Additionally, House Democrats could try to insert the Murtha provisions into the fiscal 2008 defense authorization and spending bills, which are scheduled to come to the floor later in the year.

"We will set benchmarks for readiness," said a top Democratic leadership aide, speaking on the condition of anonymity. If enacted, these provisions would have the effect of limiting the number of troops available for the Bush surge plan, while blunting the GOP charge that Democrats are cutting funding for the troops. "We are not cutting funding for any in Iraq," said the aide, who admitted the Democratic maneuver would not prevent the president from sending some additional forces to Baghdad. "We want to limit the number who can go ... We're trying to build a case that the president needs to change course."

just as you've stated. it appeared there first, then they ALL were saying it.

Olbermann showed about ten different pugs spewing the line, many of them CLAIMING it was the dems' own product. it was just like Daily Show, catching them at their typical, lying worst

8. Putting 160,000 troops on a mission that required 350,000 is a "slow bleed".
Giving our military a mission that is doomed to failure is a "slow bleed".

Invading a country that posed no threat to our security is a "slow bleed".

Creating a haven & traing ground for terrorists with live American soldiers as targets is a "slow bleed".

Sending 21,000 more into a meat grinder with no way out is a "slow bleed".

Edited on Tue Feb-20-07 09:56 PM by omega minimo
yet the phrase is being repeated by a chorus of evil pundits as if that is what DEMOCRATS are calling their strategy.

You point out it could apply to BUSHCO'S POLICY.

Using it against Democrats is totally disgusting.
