Libby Trial Summation from FDL: Wells Summation (mispeak or intentional?)

(me: Man, even their attorneys lie)

Libby Trial Summation from FDL:

11:30

Then Zeidenberg said I said there was a WH conspiracy. That I had no evidence. In this case, the key quesiton is perjury. THe key question is Libby's state of mind, before he went before FBI. That meat grinder note, that Zeidenberg says I didn't show evidence about. It's one of the most improtant, important pieces of evidence in this case. I'm going to talk about it in detail. He has suggested that I promised putting on a whole case, of evidence about what Andrew Card or Scott McC did, I made no such promise, I said I'd show you a note, introduce a note, show that VP Of this country, wrote a note in his own hand, in old pen, that it was not fair to protect Karl Rove and proetc libby. Ted WElls did not make those owrds up, I did not get into time machine and go into WH and write that note. VP wrote not fair to prorect rove and sacrifice Libby.

1. He didn't name Rove, he didn't even name Libby in that note
I've read of its contents. It's in evidence so the jury can see it for itself later.

2. I know it's at Fitz's site but her is the quoted by googling:
"Not going to protect one staffer and sacrifice the guy that was asked to stick his neck in the meat grinder," the note said, according to Wells.

6. So Wells is "testifying" that Cheney meant Rove & Libby.
Well isn't that helpful of him, here in the closing statements.

11. Yeah, it was confirmed as "Pres."--and it appears that Cheney was going to
write, "the guy that the Pres. asked to put his neck in the meatgrinder."

I have my own little theory about who he meant by "the incompetence of others." I think he was referring to the incompetence of Rumsfeld in failing to get the nukes planted in Iraq--for a triumphant "find" of WMDs by the U.S. troops who were "hunting" for them after the invasion--which led to this damned mess where they had no justification for the war--and not just Joe Wilson, but also David Kelly in England, both whistleblowing on their phony case for war.

Wells (in defending Libby) had the nerve to say, today, that the "incompetence" Cheney meant was the "incompetence" of the CIA in not taking the "16 words" out of Bush's SOTU speech. I mean, that took balls to say that (as in balled face lying). It was Cheney who needed it IN the speech, as prep to part 2 of the scheme (planting the nukes). The CIA kept taking it OUT--cuz it was provably bogus!

You've got to admire the CIA keeping a straight face through all this. Except for Tenet throwing this hand grenade in their laps, as his parting shot.

12. Very interesting, and of David Kelly is forever linked to Judy-Judy-Judy as
his final email. All coincidence, I'm sure, just like Plame working in counter proliferation on Iraq/Iran.

9. HE DOES IT AGAIN! from fdl:
LIbby did something only an innocent person would do , got to VP, I didn't do anything. Clear suggestion once they cleared Rove, He goes to VP, only an innocent person would do this, VP writes in his own handwriting, It's not right to clear Rove and sacrifice Libby. It was written and it exists.

10. WOW, NOW REFERRING TO INADMISSIBLE EVIDENCE!
from FDL (Wells speaking):

That stipulation in and of itself is reasonable doubt. I don't have to talk about Buffalo news, Russert's affadavit before court, how he was forgetful on stand the morning of indictment He made a statement that is different from an earlier statemen. This is an impeachment statement. THe mere fact that he made an earlier statement, where the stakes are a man's reputation, a man's life, that's reasonable doubt in and of itself.
