Bi-partisanship (???) in the Senate - List of co-sponsors of Edward Brooke's tribute resolution
Edited on Tue Feb-20-07 05:52 PM by Mass
Ted Kennedy offered a bill honoring the career of Edward Brooke, last Republican Senator of Massachusetts and first black senator since Reconstruction.

A bill to award a congressional gold medal to Edward William Brooke III in recognition of his unprecedented and enduring service to our Nation.

Here is the list of co-sponsors. I have put in bold the Republicans.

Out of 42 US Senators honoring the career of a Republican Senator, only 7 are Republicans and NO Republican presidential candidates are present. I wonder why? (Or was Ted Kennedy's staff unable to find their office.

1. Just shows how much Republicans have moved to the right...
if they won't even acknowledge one of their own from a while ago.

That's really bizarre.

But I think there is one more Republican on the list - isn't Snowe a Republican?

3. True - I guess I missed her because she is probably the left wing of the Republican party these days

4. I expect the list to expand on both sides, but I found the difference between
Republicans and Democrats surprising: 34 Democrats (including Lieberman and Sanders) for 8 Republicans. This is what surprised me more than the individual names.
