4. And if he gets a little press there is a big chunk of middle America that will follow.
I still belive he has the most appeal across the largest spectrum of voters.

From the fairly liberal to the mildly conservative I think he can touch the things that people care about.

44. See, this is the kind of shit that scares me.
When I say, "Edwards will sell you down the fucking river, because he has in the past, on trade, on civil rights and on the war.", you call it a "hateful attack", and say that people need to "come around". I don't need to fucking come around anywhere. There is an "us and them" ideology I see from a lot of Edwards supporters that scares the crap out of me. Please, don't vote for Edwards. He'll fuck us as president just like he did as a senator. If that's a hateful attack, I'm glad I made it, but I think expecting people such as myself to "come around" is the statement that's truly full of hate and contempt.

46. Hoping to convince people is "full of hate and contempt"?
Don't be absurd friend. I don't agree with every position Edwards took as Senator either, but his record stacks up pretty well against anyone else running except Kucinich. Further I would remind you that he was a freshman Senator from North Carolina, with an obligation to represent his constituents. To claim that he "fucked us as a Senator" is ridiculous and reeks of hatred. This is the kind of partisanship during primary season that makes DU look as if it is populated by raving lunatics.

Tone it down a notch, OK mate?

60. ok, consider it toned down, BUT
when someone says something about "people who haven't come around YET", I get freaked out. It sounds like borg mentality. You know, I'm not going to come around. I know that people aren't going to come around to my views either, but I don't make creepy borg/dalek statements about it.

61. well, when people seem to attack people out of hate
I've seen some nasty shit on here that I would describe as racist about immigrants - that's hateful. I don't think my warnings to be afraid of what an Edwards presidency would bring us are hateful attacks - they're warnings to fellow citizens, because I love my country and care for all of the people in it, and the world. I don't want more wars, that's for damn sure, and I'll scream at the top of my lungs that we oughtn't be crowning a war hawk if it'll save just one life from a needless war. I don't think that's hate.

reasons, will somehow work for the benefit of us all" supposed to have been said by economist John Baynard Keyes. This is why I support Edwards. This is the man with the perfect understanding of what entrenched corporate greed has done. He is so capable of helping us end the corporate dominance and destruction of our country.

65. I DID vote for him in the primary
I so desperately wanted him to be the nominee. If he had been, I really think he'd be president right now. It was Dean that made me comfortable calling myself a Democrat - before I'd just voted democratic, but didn't really like the idea of self-identifying with the party.

74. yep - and his 50-state plan was a big part of the (albeit flawed in some respects) '06 win.
I've said many times that I think the Democratic party has become too broad, but I don't know that it should be my role to say what elements should and shouldn't be included in the party. I do know that when Dean, Kucinich and Conyers leave the party, I'm going with them - but I don't think that's likely too happen. I see that these guys are the heart of the party, they're tough as nails, and I don't think anything could force them out.

30. How on earth do we choose Edwards!?
This guys has been campaigning for 4 years straight!? and he's still not considered a front runner. Do you guys forget that Cheney mopped the floor with him when they debated? DO YOU FORGET THAT?! In those four years he's learn to craft a campaign better, that's it. He's not learned how to debate better, and he has not gained one ounce of credible experience to his very light resume.
The republicans know how to beat him because they've done it before!

He wasn't even the best choice last time around with a much, muuuchh weaker field.
I'll save my arguments against Obama and Clinton later but I am at a total loss for why anybody would chose Edwards.....again?
My choice, btw, is for Biden.

52. Same here.
Warts and all, I've decided to support him, too. Is he the perfect candidate? Of course he isn't. What he is, however, is progressive, a fighter and someone I believe can appeal to independents and disaffected Republicans while retaining the traditional Democratic 'base'.

I'm sick to death of Republicans and Republican control of our government, and in order to convinvingly dislodge them from the White House AND from Congress, it's going to take an attractive, articulate candidate with broad appeal.

Edwards it is.

DK is a true progressive, but he won't win the nomination (and he obviously knows it already).

John Edwards represents our best chance to win in the GE against any rethug in ALL regions of the country. His populist message resonates and he knows how to counter-punch. And of course, Elizabeth rocks!
