It used to be wingnuts bemoaning "posse comitatus"

and the federalization of the National Guard. It was the loonies in the compounds and the survivalists with their shaved heads dressed all in camo who would take you aside and warn you of those "black helicopters" that would come to attack the American people.

In yesterdays NYT, an article noted that a tiny provision, in October's huge defense bill, has pretty much eliminated posse comitatus, and made us all vulnerable.

The article also noted:

"There is a bipartisan bill, introduced by Senators Patrick Leahy, Democrat of Vermont, and Christopher Bond, Republican of Missouri, and backed unanimously by the nation’s governors, that would repeal the stealthy revisions. Congress should pass it. If changes of this kind are proposed in the future, they must get a full and open debate."

If anyone can find the name and number of that bill, I would appreciate. . . .
