Poll question: 50 state long primaries or get a nominee ASAP
I would like to see the nomination process go through all 50 states and the District without candidates forced out because the media says they have to finish where ever in a certain state or party bosses want them out.

Anyone agree?

1. Not without a functioning public financing system that's actually an asset instead of liability.
Otherwise, we run into situations where poorer candidates are disadvantaged simply because they don't have the money to buy ads in all the markets. One of the reasons why small states like Iowa and New Hampshire was chosen was because the small market meant less wealthy candidates have a more level playing field to operate upon. To be sure, I don't consider that an argument to keep the current system. That's an argument for a better way to nominate a person.

2. Can I vote for "other"?
The only reason why I hesitate to vote yes is because of the sheer amount of money a candidate would need to raise in order to be competitive in a 50 state primary.

I would like to see a "lottery" of sorts every four years. Stick 50 ping pong balls with the name of each state in that odd cage thing, spin it, and pull 4 out.

Or, instead of individual states, split the country in groups of 3-4 states that are close to one another (regions) so that the candidates aren't forced to travel horribly long distances.
