Although it might be the politcally correct thing to congratulate Obama tonight, I do not.

I do not like the campaign he has run.

He's run a very uninspiring, disingenuous campaign. For example, his baseless assertion that Sen. Clinton is only running for President because of some sense of entitlement to the White House.

It seems to me that people have gotten caught up in his hype, without knowing what he's really all about. And if the Democratic Party lets him become the nominee, it will regret it.

That she represents more of the same old big corporate interests. I'll take Obama over her any day. It's time for change, and HC isn't Bill. I really wish people would wake up and realize what was can't be again.

without really examining his message.

I guess congratulations are in order, but, from my end they aren't heartfelt. At all.

I seriously doubt he could win a National election. And before people pile on... the reasons I think he can't win have NOTHING to do with race.
If anything, that gives him a boost over what he should have. Again because people are believing the hype.

Obama isn't the change our country needs.

112. Whoa, back the fuck up with the pigeonholing, bro
My mom and I actually met Obama a few years ago, at the Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Conference. This was right when Katrina happened, the weekend before Rita hit. Funny enough, he was on stage with Hillary in a panel discussion on Katrina. I liked a lot of what he had to say back then. I'm more disappointed in Obama than anything because he's turned out to be just another empty, politicking suit despite all that junk he talks about change.

I don't have sour grapes because I don't give a shit, I have no dog in this fight. I will hold my nose and vote for whoever the D is after the dust settles, 'cause I'd rather slit my wrists than ever vote Puke, but I am not thrilled by anyone out there, except the little guy who doesn't have a chance in hell. Because at the end of the day, I still can't marry the woman I love, she still doesn't have health insurance, and I still can't be out at work because I don't know if they'll use it as an excuse to fire me. Yes, the D will always be better than the R for me, I'm well aware of that. But forgive me for being less than thrilled with this crowd.

You have ZERO proof that those who support Obama are doing so because they don't know the issues and are "caught in the hype".

That's intellectual laziness, and sour grapes, to boot.

88. that same wincing Bush feeling

I have so much trouble watching Bush on the television. It makes me squirm, watching him "speak" and "joke".

Obama is triggering the same sense of unease in me. And his most ardent supporters are such stereotypes of what "liberal" has come to mean. They have not said a thing to impress me to date, they simply go "Believe it!" and "Fired Up!" like Arthur Dent if he had had his brain removed on Magrathea ("Where's the tea?")

Not being white or christian, I don't have race guilt or preacher-hypnotism to push me into Obama's camp - I am immune. And this guy is pretty phony from my perspective - what he has said, for real, is incredibly scary and non-progressive in my opinion.

But he's a "community organizer from 'way back". Yeah, well, he probably sopped up the credit for other people's hard work. I think that's what they teach at Harvard Law.

I'll just say that he'll have my support in the General if he's the candidate, but mostly because I am going to trust in the judgement of the cool people in the Democratic Party, not in Barack Obama (unless he is able to change my mind somehow, there's always that). however, it is hard not to believe that the cool people of the DP are being had, big-time.

I think we'd do well to avoid being too bitter over these primary battles. I'm still backing Edwards, but Obama is a good man and if he wins the nomination then he will deserve to take his case to the American people with all our support. This primary has been nasty, but so was the last one and likely the next one will be too. None of the leading candidates are "clean" but all of them have behaved, overall, in a respectable manner.

He's dividing us on generational grounds, and I think that is just as bad as race, ethnicity or gender.

This country is in a terrible spot. We are in a stupid war in the Middle East, and there are incredibly serious problems with our economy. The next president will have his or her hands full just cleaning up after the current occupant. We cannot ignore any group if we are to pull out of this mess to make secure retirements for the oldest, decent jobs for all for those of working age, and education and a bright future for younger folks.

Courting only the young doesn't do this. I wish that he would ask for the vote of all.

I dislike him and Clinton so much. Not that my vote in Texas counts at all for President. So I am in a mood to play spoiler in the primary and write in someone off the wall or someone who has dropped out. Or, mostly likely skip it altogether.

And this might be the first Presidential election I sit out, since my vote doesn't matter here. Texas, after all, will vote for whichever scary Republican is nominated.

That would be just about as productive and a whole lot more entertaining to watch.

Even IF you hate every Dem candidate that had over 10%, you might still want to celebrate the huge turnout for Dems in Iowa. Might help to keep sight of the fact that "our" party was OUT and active tonight.

60. He's a typical Vichy Dem
who is always willing to attack fellow Dems, but cuddle up to the GOP. Like most DLC'ers he harbors a secret desire to be a Republican, but knows he could never get elected if he ran as one. Those conflicted feelings make attacking fellow Dems very easy for him.

He's the guy who doesn't march on the picket line but tries to start his own union "working together with the management."

98. OMFG -- my Dad said almost that exact thing about him!!!
Though he's a Repub, he's also an old union guy (very strange), and that's one of the things he said about Senator Obama: he seems like the guy who wanted both management and union members to like him.

Look on the bright side- the race is still competitive and the DLC/Joe Lieberman wing of the party may just have to listen to someone besides "moderates","swing voters" and Lieberman Republicans.

I'm happy that Hillary is no longer "inevitable"- maybe it will force the DLCers to change their severely misguided "ignore the looney lefties(AKA Active Democrats)" strategy.

78. Obama thrills his Democrat-hating followers
by constantly demeaning and smearing Democrats himself. Why wouldn't they love him.

Actual Democrats, who care about real politics and not just vague talk about change, don't want to follow some platitudinous Dem-smearer just because he's on the left. There are better choices, like Hillary and Edwards.

84. Obama smears everyone on the left
It's how he operates. That's why Dem-Hating-Leftists support him so much, he is always getting snide on Democrats and the Democratic party.

And that's why Democrats, in contrast, are starting to wonder if someone who is so contemptuous of Democrats, both individually and collectively, and who wants to 'work with Republicans to get things done' is really who we want representing us?

Especially since once Democrats regain power in Washington in 2009, we finally don't have to compromise with Publicans so much. Who wants to play nice after the past 12 years of their thuggish, nasty behavior? Besides Obama? I can't think of any other Dem.

I think Publicans have had over a decade to be civil and compromise. It's not our turn to bend to Publicans like Obama wants. It's our turn to push back hard.

For that reason alone, and there are many more, the last person many of us want in the White House is Obama.

they and Clinton's have been very mean-spirited and negative, which obviously works for them but is not what I'm interested in.

I instead congratulate the Democratic party for the record showing and a bright future ahead of us. WOOT, Dems rock!

Well, I do have one good thing to say about Barack. It feels so damn good to have a minority win the Iowa caucus. This gives me hope for the future of this country.
