From the Group News Blog:

Total Voter Turnout (approximate)

356,000

Let's hope and pray that Americans have their brains and hearts in working order in November.

3. You mean NINETY PERCENT of Iowa rejected Huckabee?
And even larger percentages rejected the rest of the GOP slate?

I left the room and found something else to do when Matthews kept shrieking that two-thirds of Iowa had rejected Clinton.

BTW, the Census Bureau has Iowa at an estimated 2,982,085 population as of 2006. Here's another percentage: barely 12% of Iowans participated in the caucus.

4. The Independent Numbers Are Impressive As Well
Last night, the beltway GOOP's worst nightmares began to unfold...a candidate they can't control who serves a different master. In the wake it's gonna tear this inept and corrupt party apart more than I previously believed. Hucklenut's win is making 'em crazy in Freeperland...and all the alternatives are also unexeceptable. Here's hoping the Huckster keeps on a roll...gets those church buses to the polls on time and forces them into total fratracide.

The big loser last night wasn't Hillary, it was Rudeeeee...while he didn't need to win Iowa, he didn't even show. Dukin' Donuts had almost as many votes. None of the Above also scored higher. As Atrios says, his campaign has the sounds of swishing around the bottom of the bowl.

Congrats to Senator Obama...an impressive victory!

8. Especially bad considering that Iowa went for Bush in 2004.
