Why this country elects idiots -- one example:
I just got off the phone with my mother, who lives in Florida. I asked her about the caucus and what she thought of the results. Her response? "I don't like that guy from Illinois."

I'm thinking "...guy from Illinois?", then I remember Obama. To her credit, at least she didn't call him "that black guy". :eyes:

Then she says, "The other guy looked pretty good. What's his name? Huckadoodle?"

Me: "Huckabee? Are you crazy?? You do know he's a right-wing fundamentalist Republican freak-show (or words to that effect), don't you?"

Ma: "He's a Republican? But he seems so nice."

Me: "Yeah, Ma. He's a Republican."

Ma: "Oh well, I think I'll just vote for Hillary then."

Augh :banghead:

4. I remember a Huckleberry Hound
from the 60's I think. And You'd be surprised at how many people I've talked to that called Huckabee, Huckleberry.

3. Sorry to laugh
but I had many conversations with my mother like that.

"But he is the cutest one."

"I think he is handsome and if I am gonna have to look at his face all the time I would prefer a handsome man."

"Nope, he speaks southern. No more of them please, I can't stand the way it takes them so long just to spit out a word."

Yup, did not really matter what party or what policy.

8. I had a similar thing happen with my mother in Florida
It was during the 2004 election, and at the last minute, my mother decided not to vote at all. Why? "I can't vote for Kerry because I just don't like that Teresa."!!! (Of course, her vote wouldn't have made a difference anyway, since the fix was in.)

9. yikes.
surely couldn't be much different from my mom who's still torn between Edwards and Obama. You know which way I'm pushing her, but no one, and I do mean no one, pushes my ma. She's incredibly politically savvy- has an internationalist's pov having grown up in France and Italy, and has been active in dem politics for decades.
