Is the election over already??
Is Obama, the Democratic nominee, going up against Huckabee, the Republican nominee? I thought there was going to be much more suspense to this election. I had no idea it would be over so soon. I thought Hillary was going to win a few states? I thought either Guiliani and McCain was going to be the Republican nominee? What happened?

It was over so soon - like a pimple-faced teenager on his first date. Didn't we deserve more? Didn't we deserve more of a battle before the nominee was announced? Is it possible that some over-zealous supporters have been a little premature? :-)

2. According to Obama, NH will decide the entire election next week.
His quote to paraphrase, if you do an Iowa, I'll be the next president.

That took some SERIOUS mazel in my book.

3. No, Sir, It Is Not
None of the leading Democratic Party contenders can be knocked out of the thing before Valentine's Day, cable news hyperventilation notwithstanding.

5. Well, Obama does appear to have a two-delegate lead.
In a 2,000 delegate race.

8. No. But by the time it gets to my state, it will be over.
It's a bit early. All Iowa and New Hampshire do is start the weeding out process.

It's a stupid process, to be sure.

10. Amen!
The way the news media was reporting the Obama/Huckabee wins in the Iowa caucuses last night, I momentarily felt disappointed that my preferred candidate (Edwards, for now) didn't win first place. A few minutes later I came to my senses and realized that the nominating process is still FAR from over yet. This isn't to say that I would be upset if Obama turns out to be the nominee and I certainly plan on voting for the eventual nominee whoever he or she happens to be but it is still FAR too early for Obama supporters to be wildly celebrating or supporters of other candidates to begin getting discouraged. With Iowa having a lot of evangelical voters, the fact that Obama and Huckabee, certainly two of the more spiritual candidates in this year's Presidential race, won is actually not all that surprising. Whether their appeal will translate to other states remain to be seen but the results of one primary in one state, even a fairly significant one such as a Iowa, does not cement the nomination for Obama or Huckabee.
