Why the United States needs CheneyCare
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 10:40 AM by ck4829
The California Nurses Association (CNA)/National Nurses Organizing Committee (NNOC) launched a national campaign
today in favor of what the group has dubbed "CheneyCare" -- guaranteed,
publicly-funded health care for all Americans.

The campaign was inspired by the success of the group's Iowa ads declaring
that Vice President Dick Cheney "would be dead" if he did not have
publicly-funded health care. A new version of the Iowa ad asking Americans
to sign a petition for "CheneyCare" will run today in eight New Hampshire
papers before going national in the New York Times, Washington Post, and USA
Today, as well as leading political blogs, on Monday.

"All Americans have the right to the quality of care that our
Vice-President, President, and Congress already have," said Rose Ann DeMoro,
Executive Director of CNA/NNOC and a vice-president of the AFL-CIO. "All the
leading Democratic proposals fall well short of "CheneyCare," keeping
insurance companies at the apex of power and allowing them to deny care that
can save lives. The Republican proposals are even worse.

The ad uses recent headlines about Vice-President Dick Cheney's latest
heart procedure to point out the difference between the government-funded
health care that the nation's leading politicians enjoy and the precarious
health care situation in which most Americans find themselves.

Here are two American citizens:

The Vice President

And Terri Schiavo

Which one has done more for our nation?

Schiavo:
Nothing

Cheney:
Head of the Energy Task Force which conspired with criminals
Head of an Anti-Terrorism Committee which was formed before 9/11 and apparently found no problems with the way things were
Led us to quagmire in Iraq
Has misled the nation on Iraq on every occasion he has spoken about it

And yet he gets free health care?

We need a new system, a system that doesn't care who you are, what you do, how much money you have, or if you have insurance or not.

That is why we need CheneyCare.

P.S. Be sure to visit http://www.CheneyCare.org and sign the petition to say that every American needs to have health care.

3. Medicare and Medicaid get paid through Blue Cross
same with federal government employees health care.

Blue Cross pays the bills and is reimbursed by the Feds. Blue Cross is just a go-between paper shuffler and is paid a fee for its services.

5. Is Blue Cross not an insurance Company?
 Cheney Care is no different than what Hillary proposed in 1993....

7. Not in this case. Blue Cross is only the intermediary
The Feds outsourced just the actual paying of the bills to Blue Cross. The Feds are responsible for making the rules on what gets paid and the Feds are responsible for coming up with the dough to pay the bills.

The only people involved at Blue Cross are in the accounting department who cuts the checks and shuffles the paperwork.

The work done by Blue Cross for the Feds can be done by any accounting firm. The Feds just chose Blue Cross.

8. I don't buy that..
Blue Cross is NOT an accounting firm, it is an insurance firm. Health care in America is run by the insurance agencies and this so called "Cheney Care" is identical to "Hillary Care" of 1993..

9. I've worked in this area for twenty five years
At no time did I ever talk to Blue Cross insurance people.

Every time disputes were worked out with Blue Cross intermediary accounting people or the Feds. The Blue Cross intermediary people were just financial people. They didn't even work in the same office as the Blue Cross insurance people.

Blue Cross insurance payments came in under different checks, different rules and different people than that of the Federal insurance programs.

HillaryCare means that Blue Cross would make the rules and take profits.
CheneyCare means the Feds make the rules (with no profit add-on) with some intermediary accounting department (such as Blue Cross) shuffling papers.

6. HR 676 (Conyers/Kucinich) is, without a doubt, the BEST approach of all by far
It's despicable that a reasonable, cost-effective, and viable health care funding approach is being denied to the people of this nation by bought-and-paid-for politicians and huge propaganda campaigns by the pharma/insurance interests.
