Would Edwards accept VP again? Should he?
I know it is a little preliminary, but I just raise this question.

If we assume for a minute that Obama wins big in NH, they is good likelihood that momentum will take him to a dominant position on Super Tuesday. That then raises the question of who will be the VP on the ticket.

If that scenario plays out, I would love to see Edwards join Obama on the ticket. I think that ticket would be absolutely untouchable, and they would be an exceptional team to lead our country. I believe that would be such a successful ticket that it could sweep us way past the fillibuster number in the Senate and empower a new generation of leaders in the House.

Simple questions. Given the assumptions about primary results, do you think Obama would offer? And if offered, do you think Edwards could accept? And should he?

One point, Edwards is not an old man. If Obama served two terms, Edwards could still be in position to be President 8 years from now.

1. No Edwards should never say "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride"...
I do not want to see him as VP, I want to see him as president.

2. Um, what if he doesn't get enough delegates
Isn't Vice-President a more fulfilling and higher profile job than trial lawyer?

9. No because VP is there to wait for something to happen to the P, not to change things
Sorry, he should exit the stage with class and move on with his life.

4. He is my first choice too. But please.
if you allow me the assumption about Obama soring big in NH and cruising to dominance in Super Tuesday, would that change your opinion?

15. Sure he would accept VP if he looses
because he doesn't have any other gig lined up at the moment. Then again, maybe an Administration position would work too.

3. I was thinking about that yesterday
but I just don't see it happening-it'll be perceived as a reminder of a losing ticket...if John Edwards doesn't get elected this time I would like to see him return to the senate and take Dole's spot-senators do it all the time-split and then make a comeback.

5. I don't think he'll be asked
He ran for veep last time. It would seem like the new nominee didn't have the imagination to choose his own running mate. The nominee will go for someone new I'm sure.

I'd like to nomnate him for Attorney General in the new Democratic administration! He'd be superb!

18. I think he'd be a GREAT AG
He'd not only end the spying on American citizens but I think he'd root out and prosecute the Bush criminals *relentlessly.* It would be like Bobby Kennedy vs. Hoffa again.

6. I don't think he would be asked
first, there is the perception that he didn't add a lot to the '04 ticket (it might have been different had he been the nominee) and second I don't think he would want to do it twice in a row and frankly doubt that either Hillary or Obama would want him--I think they would go for people they think would help them the most and add the most to the ticket.

10. Nah - but perhaps if offered cleaning up the DOJ as AG he should
consider doing it.

11. No. I think Edwards needs to be president. Obama is too gentle, too weak, too soft, too Buddhist.
Edwards is a tough-ass guy and doesn't care to play nice towards corporations and the rich. I love the man!

14. No
No he wouldn't take it and No he wouldn't be asked.

I'm thinking that Richardson would be Obama's best bet. I may be crazy but I have noticed over the years a sort of animosity between Blacks and Hispanics which was always baffling to me. Obama/Richarson combination might mitigate the issue for the Hispanic voters.

Richardson is probably the best bet for all three of the top Dem candidates.

But that might also drive the right wing Mexican haters crazy - Jesus this country is so screwed up.....

16. If not President, I would rather see Edwards as AG than VP...
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 12:14 PM by Flarney
I wonder how much of a fight the Republicans would put up in the Senate to keep him from being confirmed. He could be almost as much of a nightmare to the corporations as AG as he would be as President.

He had his chance.
