Barak Obama: Hillary Clinton 'is just like Bush'
from earlier this week (January 4, 2008)

Barack Obama unleashed a blistering attack on his Democrat rival Hillary Clinton yesterday, branding her "just like George W Bush".

The cutting comparison came as he launched a last-ditch push to win over Democrats in Iowa, who vote on Thursday in their caucuses, the first stage of the presidential nomination process.

Barack Obama on the campaign trail in Iowa, where he launched blistering attacks on his rival, Hillary Clinton

Now, his lofty rhetoric about hope and change is laced with sharp, sarcastic jabs at Mrs Clinton and her husband Bill, who have sought to paint him as a naïve lightweight who doesn’t have the stomach for a fight.

just thought those BamaBots who are having seizures over how low Hillary has allegedly gone in comparing him to Bush should have a gentle reminder of where their guy has been oh so recently.

1. You mentioned this in the other thread and I hadn't read it.
More information is always a good thing.

2. you're welcome
I personally have nothing against Obama, but I do have a problem with hypocrisy and people conveniently forgetting facts while bashing another candidate.

So, yeah, more info is always good.

3. I want to explain why Hillary's statement bothered me so much.

It was a jab at Democrats not just Obama. That we would not be smart enough to elect someone based on more than likability. And when you think of it, who wasn't more likable than Bill? He charmed the socks off of everyone. ;)

6. but he also had a wealth of experience as Governor
was a Rhodes Scholar, was considered one of the most intelligent in the Democratic Party -- when he first met Madalyn Albright before he ran for President, he astonished her by holding a conversation on foreign policy while doing the NYTimes crossword in ink ... correctly -- and had, due to his experience as Governor, not only Executive Experience in helping people in his State get the services they needed and wanted (something Hillary also achieved with the Children's Defense Fund as well as her work battling the Arkansas Education Board to get standardized tests for teachers in addition to other things), but also had an actual record of achievement to run on.

As one of who knows how many Iowa Legislators, Obama may not have that kind of experience to turn to and show as a reason why he should be given the biggest job in the Country. Furthermore, his inexperience on the World Stage coupled with his inexperience on the National Stage -- both things Hillary is fortunate to have both as First Lady and as a second term Senator -- can only be one more impediment to overcome as a new President.

8. Obama, man of change, inexperience. what will his cabinet
look like? Heaven forbid he have anyone that has more experience than him. Obama means no change. He has no experience, much like we've had for 8 years.

7. Sounds like he was pissed off more at Bill !
"At a Des Moines rally that drew in more than 1,000 people despite freezing weather, Mr Obama abandoned his previous timidity and, while not mentioning her by name, aimed barbs straight at the former First Lady. "We can’t afford a politics that’s all about terrorism and ripping people down rather than lifting a country up," he said. "We can’t afford a politics based on fear that leaves politicians to think the only way they can look tough on national security is to vote and act and talk just like George W Bush.""

to remind those Obama Supporters who were blasting Hillary for being "low" and "sleazy" that their guy had JUST said the same thing only days ago.

11. Ah, well. It's down to sharp knees and brass knuckles at this point.
I'm not shocked, but it is...rather surprising from Obama. He doesn't need to be negative. He has everything going for him right now. Looks like Hillary and Bill have struck a nerve somewhere. If they're smart, they'll keep picking at it.

14. they're smart
and the voters in New Hampshire aren't as easily swayed by rhetoric as those in Iowa might have been. They tend to like facts and plans on how things will be fixed rather than a nice speech without serious substance. And don't try and charm 'em. Look 'em in the eye and tell them what you're going to DO in twenty words or less.

I remember a story of an elderly woman in a town hall meeting years ago asking a question of a politician and ending it with " ... and spare me the bullshit". The politician laughed thinking it was a joke until he realized the entire audience was calmly waiting for his answer, without the bullshit.

I don't know that she'll win NH, but I suspect she'll place a much, much stronger Second than many are expecting, therefore shaving off a bit of Obama's current "inevitability". In any case, she's in the race until late-Spring, at least. And will keep fighting no matter what the Polls say.
