I also have Scotties. I am so sick and tired of people coming up and saying, "That's like George Bush's dog." Yeeeeech. I always reply, "No, he's like FDR's Scottie." Occasionally, I get a blank look and realize they have no idea whom I talking about. In 2004 he proudly wore (Duncan) a FREE BARNEY ribbon.

My Scottie before the one I have now was a direct descendant of Fala and all anyone had to do around her was say, "Ronald Reagan," and my little lassie growled and barked her butt off. I got my first Scottie back in the late 1950s because FDR was my favorite POTUS and as a kid in elementary school, I wanted a doggie just like Fala. That was about 50 years ago and I have had Scotties ever since ~~ a Big Dog in a Little Dog's body. Once you have a Scottie, no other dog will ever do IMO!

BTW: Barney is a Democrat! At least that is what my Scottie tells me.

That is very cool that you owned a descendant of Fala. I have a framed copy of the water color of FDR & Fala riding in his convertible.

I grew up with Scotties too-- Ivanhoe and Lorna Doone. That was in the 50s/60s. Today we are blessed to own Duncan and Agnes. One an elderly rescue, the other a very exuberant pup.

I think Barney's a Dem too. Remember a few years ago when he took a dump on live tv right behind Bushco, all lined up before the mics in Crawford? The camera guy had whiplash; he had to cut Barney out of the shot so quickly!

BTW: I bet you have noticed, too, the way Barney backs away from the idiot...facing him with his head down, pulling hard, butt in the air and shaking his head. Scottie trait when it gets near something it thinks is dangerous. My Fala Scottie did that all the time when she sensed someone was dangerous. IMO, Barney's body language says a ton! He does NOT like GWB...and does NOT trust him. At least that is what I see.

I love your Scottie names and the fact that you have a rescue in your home. I used to place Scotties for Scottie rescue and I took in one that way, too. He was the only male Scottie I ever had ~~ Ferguson. What a character...but aren't they all???
