They just talked about possible tornadoes tonight
due to spring-like weather in the South and Midwest.

This temperature map sure looks odd to me, especially since we're still digging out in the West.

1. 68 degrees here in No Illinois this afternoon.
We usually have a January thaw but this is nutty. Sure glad there's no climate change to worry about, aren't you?

17. The blizzard of January '67 ...
followed of couple of days in the mid 60's with tornadoes in N. Ill. First time my high school ( Evanston) had EVER closed due to snow. So its happened before ( this warm in January) but when winter hit right afterwards...it HIT. Of course climate change may prevent the normal winter to kick in after this record warmth, unlike '67. (although I do seem to recall being assured by those towering intellectuals Rush Limbaugh and Sen. James Imhofe that "climate change" is just a liberal hoax.)

2. Last week at this time, it was -5
here in eastern Iowa. Now it's in the 60's. We always have a January thaw, but this is record breaking stuff.

3. It's 73 degress here in Arkansas today. Normal high temps for
this date are in the mid-40's. We have a chance of rain this afternoon, with a possibility of some strong storms.

6. Don't know where you are in Arkansas, Granny
but here in Harrison it's become overcast, like it's going to rain. Not a lot of wind--yet.

13. Howdy to you!
Forecast here is for rain starting about 5:00 and going on into the night. By that time I'll be up the on the side of the mountain in my basement apartment--and won't know if it has stormed until the next morning. Really feel safe!

if there was a tsunami warning, I wouldn't know.

Top it off, my solar / hand crank radio picked up NADA.

10. Yep, late afternoon in SW Missouri
we are suppose to catch some ..."weird" weather....

We have been going through a very high temperature streak of late. The past three days, its been in the upper sixties/over 70 degree's...in January(yeah, winter)...and we are suppose to be catching a cold front later on this evening(late night), hence the severe weather possibilities.

15. Anyone remember the Great Storm of 1975
Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 03:09 PM by ben_meyers
In Minnesota we called it the Superbowl Blizzard because the Vikings were playing that weekend. Our family was snowed in for 4 days, and the SE was getting tornadoes.
