Randi Rhodes, you really pissed me off today... go back on vacation, please!
I thought true progressives on the radio would consider talking about all the candidates, and be more objective when it came to the "front runner", but no... It was so bad listening to this today. From the get-go, it was the Obama show, and fuck be to Hillary Clinton. There was no current thought discussed surrounding the New Hampshire Primary. She made it quite evident that HRC was "out" and fell all over the mic going on about Obama.

Listen, Air America is bad enough, but it just really pisses me off lately listening to Rhodes... Please,, I'm not an HRC supporter, I'm a Kucinich supporter. I could almost forgive the Kucinich forfeit, but this was so lame.

The frontrunner has nothing to say, Randi, just a really great stump speech.

1. I gave up on Randi when she repeated the Republican lie about protesters spitting on
soldiers returning from Vietnam.

People like Randi watch a movie and think they are seeing accurate history.

I was involved with a program which helped vets get their discharges upgraded. Never met a Republican volunteering there-just liberals.

5. Ed Schultz is just as bad
The guy just beats up on the Dem candidates for the same things he should berate the Rep candidates for. We would be a lot better off if these so called liberal/progressive talk shows would stick the the "Repukes bad, Dems good" play book...but no big dumb-ass Ed just runs all the Dems in the ground for his 5 minute sound bite on cable. The guy is 400lb, limbaugh wannabe. The more anti-progressive he is, the better the cable news shows can use him as a "liberal trashing the Dem front runner" lead before they go to commercial. The only thing he has right about limbaugh is the weight.

11. "Repukes bad, Dems good" play book
I'm new to DU membership. I often refrain from expressing my deep concerns about Supreme Court nominee voting records, among other things. I can't say popular DU threads do the same, though it seems likely that many are started by Republican doubles. Why would radio be any different?

35. Thanks for the welcome MrMickeysMom (and alyce douglas)!
I was making a veiled reference to the Senators that voted for those Bush appointees to the Supreme Court (that we will be burdened with for decades to come). I have avoided bringing up those concerns on DU because I am more interested in getting rid of Republican criminals.

Last week Democratic voters showed great unity and clarity of purpose. I would prefer the trend continues without succumbing to self destructive Rovewashing.

Republican candidates failed last week. The Republican voter base failed last week. The Republican media is doing all it can to distract from the Republican train wrecks. Why help them clean up their messes by creating internal divisiveness? Why fall for their trolls and spin? I think Republicans losing every federal, state, and local election for the next 20 years is what America needs to survive.

Democratic unity and clarity of purpose is desperately needed now. I think what Nadar and Kucinich did last week was helpful.

I think horse race reporting and knife fights are not helpful, on Air America or on DU.

Is that clear enough? :)

43. Unity and clarity of purpose... hmmmm...
I agree, Democratic unity and clarity of purpose is desperately needed.

But I won't let you go without pointing out a few things, which might even explain why you see lots Democratic infighting here.

Republicans losing every federal sate and local election for the next 20 years if NOT ENOUGH. All the money in the system Democrats have not lived up to justifiably deserving a majority. Surely many are just a s bad. If they don't start voting to change foreign and domestic policy, it won't be any better.

At least we know that Republicans are traderous and cheating, but when you elect Democrats who don't stand up for the principles that made this country great at one time, it often WORSE.

47. Maybe you and I know but...
A lot of Americans do not know. Let's spend less time hating and more time educating.

I suspect the infighting is residue from Freeper-like DU fakers. Some short sighted people too, FOXized Rovebots that assume (D) means their candidate at the expense of the election. Some with historical baggage that is tough to ignore.

I should know. I have my own baggage. I was upset about vote fraud years ago, when even (D) were calling it crazy. I was upset about fiscal insanity, years ago. I was upset about earmarks and lobbyists, years ago. I was upset about global warming, years ago. I was upset about (D)'s being proud to be part of the problem. I was upset about the unreasoned and unjustified derision coming from Repubicats and Demolicans. I am trying to keep that to myself. Maybe years from now (D)'s will figure that one out? Republicans are finally on their well deserved retreat, let's speed their departure.

39. Catfights only sound bitter.
I am all for individuals speaking their minds. However, my trust (and interest) stops when the "Republicans would pay for someone to post that" line is crossed. After years of catching heat for being Green (especially from Democratic voters that assume my vote belongs to their candidates) I remain Green but am on board the Democratic train for 2008 because there are bigger problems that need to be addressed. If the Democratic campaign bickering and circular firing squads don't stop then why not return the fields of Green?

That includes Randy Rhodes (who does some of the best political interviews I've heard lately, Bill Moyers her only peer).

Randi often assumes that no one out there is intelligent and that all read very little. She acts like she "knows it all" and she doesn't. And boy does she rant........and say. This is unbelievable....Well guess what it is believable.. It is happening. I listen for a while, then if I get tired of her, off.
..Thom Hartman is very bright and analytical, and Stephanie, well she is funny. And she is honest, and she includes her crew too. It really isn't the Stephanie show. It is the Stephanie and others. That voice guy, Dan Ward, is the best live humor on all of radio.

ass - I don't usually listen to her anymore - because she is very much like my mother who is a self centered FREAK - want to do an interesting Randi test just count the number of times she says I or me in a few minutes - it will probably shock you....anyway I turned her on today not sure why but turned her off after she was telling the audience that she listend to herself (reruns I guess) in her car while on vacation - then she went on to tell the audience how damn lucky we are because her show is so damn good. It is a shame - because Randi is actually a brainiac - but I can not stand to listen to her

I say give Sam Seder her time slot.....he is a million times better than she is.....

45. Sure, there is a big story going on...
... but, I'll be damned if she "covered it" very well. In Randi's ever present ability to provoke though, which she most certainly can do, she left out the part about why Obama's stump speech was enough to constitute his presidential bid as competent. She even joked about how short he falls when debating and defining the difference in how "different" he'll be. It was like we were all at some big game, and any ole Democrat would do. That's not good enough for a lot of reasons. Never heard the explanation from her. Haven't for a while, in fact.

I'm not asking for 2 hours or 2 seconds on Gravel or even Kucinich, for that matter. Just take five seconds to present a practicle point about what "change" he's going to bring. I JUST DON'T SEE IT. I DON'T HEAR IT FROM HIM ON THE STUMP, OR SEE IT IN ANY DETAIL.

44. Rachel Maddow said she supported John Edwards today
But defended all the other candidates on her talk show and
MSNBC.

What pissed me off is that Randy, in her school girl gushing way today,
played his speeches all day long and sung his platitudes
never said that it was her political endorsement right before the primary.
I thought it was disingenuous to her listeners and none of the
callers she took called her on that.

I wouldn't have minded so much and turned it off right there and then
if she had started her show qualifying that. But I hung on for another 10 minutes
until I realized what she was doing

... she says, "Okay, have a good New Hampshah primary".

Some kind of "back door" dndorsement ... When the show was over, I said to my husband, " She did that dance to influence the NH voters!" It wasn't so much about provocative talk, it was more about ego centrist influence peddling.

When she has a guest on, she rarely lets them get a word in edgewise. In fact, she spends most of the interview time with her "guest" INTERVIEWING HERSELF! Darn, but that woman likes to hear herself speak. In that regard, she's similiar to Rush Lamebaugh.
