How I put the poll trolls on ignore and saved DU

A few months ago, I started noticing that about every fifth thread was some supposed poll result that showed "X" candidate was gaining in some supposed "Latest poll". It didn't take long for me to realize that most of these were posted by paid political psy ops plants to push specific candidates. They were also a waste of my time. Combine this with the fact that many of the posters have only belonged to D.U. for a few months but have already racked up thousands of posts. Well, I got tired of having them waste my time so today I started putting anyone who posted poll results as their subject line on my ignore list.

Amazing! After only five posters were added to my ignore list, DU suddenly got to be much more readable again!

Frankly, I resent spin doctors trying to fuck up DU by pretending to post relevant info while feeding us crap but I am really amazed how much better DU has gotten with just a few infiltrators on ignore. It's almost like the old days when actual discourse happened here.

This year I just left one creep on it. Guess I am a optimist. Or foolish , or both. I had almost 30 folk on it too. If some repeat then maybe next January I will leave it be.

No, I don't deny that campaigns might troll boards to drum up support, but I believe that most of what we see here is simply the result of zealous (at times, overzealous) supporters.

13. Sorry, there was a time...but Karl the Rove has changed that

forever. Not saying that sometimes zeal is not to blame but when I put the 5 on ignore, suddenly many other snarkey posts disappeared also. DU is much more enjoyable again.
