http://www.thenation.com/blogs/campaignmatters?bid=45&p...

Yeah, boyhowdy Obama is gonna get the troops out of that mess....ooooh say in 20-30yrs or maybe he will put Mccaine in as Sec of Def and they will stay the 100yrs that McCaine said he would stay.

sigh...but it is all okay cause there is 'HOPE', and the man is pretty, and Oprah likes him, and wheeeee maybe he will make a video with an inspirational speech for MTV and appear with Beyonce.

yes that is sarcasm!!! Colin is EXACTLY what Harry Belafonte called him, I can't say it because I am melanin challenged, but Harry was right. I would have voted for Powell in 2000, but the Iraq episode, the absolute sychophantic, slobbering kowtowing to Cheney & Co. killed every last iota of respect I ever had for him.

5. What does Colin Powell's "praising" Obama have to do with his stance on Iraq?
That's a stretch, to say the absolute least.

sold it to the US and sold it to the world.

republicans, he had his chance to do the right thing but he put his party before his country.

13. M$M misrepresents Edwards but Obama and HRC are there til 2013
Dems can’t make guarantee on Iraq troops
http://sweetness-light.com/archive/dems-wont-promise-us-out-of-iraq-by-2013

which is about what the British intelligence folks said we'd do back in 1973's Nixon plans to seize Saudi oil fields (in order to buy a ten year timeschedule to keep oil priced sufficiently high for the corporations)

Document reveals Nixon plan to seize Arab oil fields
'70s embargo sparked 'last resort' measure, says British memo
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2004/01/02/MNG8G427D61.DTL

"The British warned in their assessment that any occupation of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi might have to last as long as 10 years. The use of force would also anger and alienate Arab countries and irritate the Soviet Union, although a military confrontation with the country would be unlikely, the document stipulated."

Remember, this was written in 1973. The war was won in 2003; the occupation is right on schedule...lasting until 2013. Obama and HRC will probably see to that in some way, shape, or form.

17. here it is...if this isn't endorsement then Hussein had 100 nukes hidden in Switzerland
"...COLIN POWELL PRAISES OBAMA ON EVE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE PRIMARY...
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell praised Barack Obama on the eve of the New Hampshire primary, crediting the Illinois Senator for breaking barriers while running as "an American man" who can represent the entire nation. In an interview with PBS host Tavis Smiley, Powell said he was "taking joy" in Obama's rise and he said citizens across the country can "enjoy this moment where a person like Barack Obama can knock down all of these old barriers that people thought existed with respect to the opportunities that are available to African Americans."..."

that folks is endorsement! gratuitous public praise in public of a candidate is ENDORSEMENT!

19. it is NOT an endorsement
That is NOT an endorsement. It is exactly what it appears to be - Powell saying some nice things about Obama. Colin Powell has said kind things about many black leaders and politicians and is known as someone that will give his advice to them privately when asked.

Endorsements are easy to spot - they include something like "I support x for office y".

Now Powell endorses Obama. Is he trying to get an in into the next administration or just taking something out on the Clintons? All his better motivations for me have no weight at all.

30. Andrew Sullivan does too if that tells anyone anything
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 12:22 AM by Ichingcarpenter
Who was a great republican libertarian spokesman for them until he found
out his gayness was in jeopardy of his sanity and position in the public persona.

The corporate side of Obama makes him all things to all people, just as his other populous side which is not very clarifying as far as I'm concerned. I know where Sullivan stands on issues and
they are not Democratic or liberal. The Coal and nuclear issues, I have with Obama, is a problem I see with Sullivan's position on his free enterprise & corporate answers to our energy needs
that got us into to this mess in the first place with Reagan.

You do all know, that if Democracy was fair, that they would have to make it illegal here in the States, that is why you have super delegates, electoral votes and Diebold.

Obama should address this endorsement from Powell in a very condensing tone, that doesn't really take it or leaves it, if he is smart. Colin Powell is a War Criminal.
