I don't understand Obama's statement about single payer health insurance
In the debate, he said that it was not "practical."

What is that supposed to mean? What on earth is impractical about it, they do it in dozens of other countries?

Does Obama mean that it is not "politically practical?"

So much for believing in change.

Or is it only easy change?

what exists.

Why I do not agree with him on that, he has exactly the same position as other candidates, Kucinich excepted.

4. Medicare already exists.
So does the VA.

Not all the candidates. Not Kucinich. And since when does a bad idea become good because others agree with it?

11. stop and really think hard about it-
it isn't all that difficult to understand what he is saying.

I believed that the Clinton's were going to fix the health care crisis back in the early 90's.

And here we are some 16 yrs later and no closer to having a solution.

Whether you like it or not- there are many people in this country who are stubborn about not wanting "single payer" health care.

They see it as communism.

Now any candidate could say they were going to just do it anyway, and more than likely ultimately FAIL because of the lobbyists, those (on all sides of the political compass) who are fundamentally against universal- single payer care, and the difficulty of putting such a program into ACTUAL (not theoretical) existence.

I personally believe that health care is a more important issue or at least AS important an issue as providing for our 'national defense'- What good is providing military security for a nation of people who die from illness and disease???

Campaign promises don't really mean all that much.-

As for the way other countries do things- we don't live in other countries.
We live here.
Sometimes our stubborn independence, our obsession around certain personal freedoms, and our unwillingness to compromise comes back to bite us. This is one of those times- imo.

And we will all end up losing if we don't wake up.

peace~
