Does Illinois have open primaries?

I've been looking online but I'm finding conflicting information on it. Can someone help me out?

1. Basically yes.

You declare your party when you go to vote. There is no party registration and you can vote in a different party primary in every election if you want. Its a little different than most states which is one reason why its hard to find a simple description.

Today was the last day to register to vote in the Feb. 5th primary. I dropped off some last-minute registrations at our courthouse, so I got the correct details from the county clerk.

Early voting in Illinois is Jan 14-31st. It is conducted in a limited number of places. In my county, early voters may vote only at the courthouse.

There is a grace period for registration, from Jan. 9, and continuing for two weeks. However, anyone registering, must register at the limited number of venues only, and must vote at that time.
