The truth rears it's ugly head......
A lot of people don't like Hillary because she is a woman. They can hem and haw all they want but it boils down to that ugly little secret....disgusised in various forms of innuendo.

Want to know my secret as a far left Liberal? The fact that she's a woman (and the best Democrat available for the job) .......was pretty much the deciding factor in giving her my support.

Crucify me now. I haven't seen any men do much of anything substantial in politics for a while and it's about damned time we had a woman President.

The comments about middle age NH women screwing Obama out of a victory tonight just chapped my butt.:evilfrown:

2. Well guess what... it doesn't matter either way...
Everyone keeps hemming and hawing about this candidate and that being the best or the worst as if the world would end. Guess what... everyone's opinions are just that... opinions, no one has taken the time to post evidence or issues, just hemming and hawing... For shame DU, you're better than that!

5. Sorry, but you are part of the problem then
Voting for someone simply because of their gender?

She has enabled the Republicans on Iraq. And you are now a part of that. It probably would've been better had you not voted at all.

Don't you dare say I had a fucking hand in the Iraq War.

I cannot believe how nasty people have gotten when the coin is flipped and their candidate loses one.

other than their sex or their race. Ideally, it should be who will so the best job solving our big problems. mo

6. I think there is a reality that is coming to light to many women...
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 10:09 PM by hlthe2b
Based on the vehemence towards Hillary, the sexist representations and attacks... I have a feeling that this perceived misogyny and blatant unfairness may be driving women to reassess--some who might have gone for Obama or Edwards. I remain undecided, being among the Super Tuesday caucuses, but I certainly can understand. I have turned from agnostic to Hillary defender the past several days, simply because of the attacks that appear so vicious and so out of proportion to those given her male rivals on both sides for "similar transgressions" (e.g., the supposed emotional response).

These acts have angered me and I'm just willing to bet, many many women. We shall see... As I said, I remain undecided, but Hillary might be able to win me over...might, though I until now have leaned towards other candidates. I will not yet rule her out.

7. Maybe not just you, m'dear--
maybe there is a huge pool of voters who agree, to some extent, and who will finally break free of the odd and often irrational Hillaryphobia that has grown like a fungus. We'll see.

8. I think if she gets the nomination and wins
(which is better than a republican winning), I think the progressive movement will be further on the ropes in the democratic party. I think the Bill Clinton presidency damaged it's chances as the so called "moderates" have controlled the "liberals" ever since.

11. Accusing people of being sexist while commiting an unmitigatedly sexist act?
You're a real riot on tennis shoes, lemme tells ya...

Humans should be monosexual and the same skin color. That way nobody can push the bullshit ___ism agendas.

Especially when it's more fun (and ironic!) for folks like you to pawn everything off as "People don't like her as a candidate because she's got no penis" while saying "The fact she has no penis was pretty much the deciding factor..."

SEXIST

How do you feel about Obama? Do you agree with Hillary that America is not ready for a black president?

20. I support Obama IF he wins the nomination
....and I don't think it's a question of is America ready for a black president........I think the fact is that a lot of white Americans simply won't vote for a black person (or for that matter a woman no matter what.

And I freely admit I am being sexist here. I worked 23 fucking years in Corporate America and was screwed out of several promotions simply because I was a woman. It's payback time for me with Hillary, at least I admit it rather than give a bunch of bullshit reasons.

I don't agree with everything she has done or for that matter Obama or Edwards. None of them are saints or the 2nd coming.

I don't like McCain because of the same reason.

So unless McCain is a woman, I don't fit your theory.

14. The ability to break down a barrier and serve as a role model? That's a good enough tie breaker
If one likes a couple of candidates and thinks that they are both well qualified, it is fine to take into account the positive effect that the election of a candidate might have on society

15. 100% Bullshit.
Well, okay, you played the "some say" card. IOW, "a lot of people don't like Hillary because she is a woman" might be accurate, but it might not. It's unprovable. What is "a lot?"

I don't like Hillary because she sucks. I don't care what's bumpin' out from her sweater, I don't care what is or isn't dangling between her legs. I care about what she stands for. Period. (No female pun intended). Nothing. Nada. If she was a good choice I'd vote for her. Since she's not, I'll campaign against her. It's a cheap shot to use her gender as a catch-all excuse for her being a shitty choice for president.

16. All else equal it is time for a woman president; Hillary Clinton, in my opinion,
is a great choice. I like all the dem candidates, but am giving Hill a + for being a woman. The men have not done so well. As to continuing the war in Iraq, I have seen Senator Clinton definitively state that she will be out of Iraq promptly. I suggest that y'all take a look at the Greek play Lysistrata; it is currently quite relevant!

24. Maybe a lot of people don't like her because she is a woman
But this woman who has literally been a feminist since the age of 6 and has marched and worked for reproductive rights and the Equal Rights Amendment (remember that) I have worked to get progressive women elected - including the first women member of Congress in VA - I am truly saddened that I can not get excited about Clinton's candidacy.

Why because she stands for NOTHING - she is a political opportunist - who sticks her finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. She was nearly silent for the entire Bush administration until she announced her candidacy - and when she did speak out she practically quotes the freak in chief's words - and to make matters so much worse she voted for the Kyl LIEberman Iran vote

She has disappointed me beyond articulation - and I am so very very sad that I can't whole heartedly support her.

With all my heart I believe she will really only be marginally better on issues important to me with the exception of the Supreme Court. She will be WAY better for that - but not WAY better than Obama or Edwards - probably about the same

So I, like you, will vote for her in the general because she is a woman but I unlike you do not believe she is the best Democrat for the job - she is bought and paid for and stands for nothing but election - so there you have it - and I am heartbroken that this is what I end up as the first woman with a serious chance at the White House - but then look at what we got for the first woman Speaker of the House.

This is what ended it for me with Hillary Clinton where Clinton practically quotes GW in regards to bringing home the troops

25. Actually........
I should probably amend that statement about being the best for the job......to being the best for the job that can win. My ultimate pick if he could win would be Kucinich....but there is no way in hell he can win so I'm going with Hillary.

26. Wow I'm sorry but anybody that would go from Kuchinich
to Hillary because she has a vagina-that is really some dumb thinking.

I'm sure that's sexist and shocking to you but really your thinking makes no sense. Because nothing anyone says will ever change your mind that it's NOT because Hillary is a woman but because WE-many of us vagina holders ourselves-believe she is the worst choice.

Oh and by the way vagina is not an unacceptable word-I bet you are Ms. P.C. America and hearing the word vagina blows your fuse-have you ever heard of the Vagina monologues-great show I saw it! :hi:

27. Well actually
the two reasons I'm supporting Edwards in the primary is one Kucinich was my first choice too - and I think Edwards is the closest to him and has always been my second choice and the second reason is I do not believe that either Hillary or Barack can win the general election once the swiftboaters get through with them especially if the repunk candidate is McCain.
