Semi-technical question about delegates to the national convention...
If Edwards and Obama both stay in the race until the convention, can one of them throw their state-appointed delegates to the other at the convention?

If Clinton goes into the convention with 40% of the delegates and Edwards and Obama have 50% between them can one throw his delegates to the other at the convention?

No...?

:(

1. A candidate can release their delegates from their vote
But can not compell them to vote for another candidate.

4. Okay. I think it is pretty likely that if Edwards or Obama released their
delegates that the delegates would gravitate to the other guy instead of to Clinton. I don't know for sure, but I hope so.

Thanks.

2. If no candidate has the necessary 2025 delegates
It becomes a brokered convention. Everybody lights up cigars and they start wheeling and dealing in the back room. Yes, Edwards could put his to wards Obama, but it will not likely be that easy.

3. Okay, thanks... Do you know of any descriptions of a brokered convention
in past? I've googled, but haven't gotten anywhere...

5. The superdelegates would likely provide the deciding factor
Who do you think those Congressmen, Senators, Governors, and DNC members will back?
