Voters said they resoundingly rejected Edwards populist appeals to their economic anxieties
From exit polls:

"Voters said they resoundingly rejected the populist appeals to their economic anxieties that they had heard from John Edwards among the Democrats and Mike Huckabee among the Republicans. Instead, Democrats said they were drawn to Mr. Obama’s promises of unity and change, and Republicans to Mr. McCain’s leadership in matters of national security."

8. When your supporters can't even answer a simple question about..........
their candidate's position on the issues, the message certainly isn't getting through. HOPE and CHANGE aren't positions on issues.

biden and richardson are the only ones who get in to specifics, really, the rest just talk about this change thing that nobody knows what it means really

21. Bull.
If the audience doesn't want to hear the truth and/or doesn't give a damn about anyone but themselves, that isn't the messenger's fault.

And changing the message to appeal to such people is useless.

3. CNN just said Hillary won amongst D voters whose #1 issue was economy.
Maybe they were doing alright under Bill Clinton? We know they like balanced budgets.

5. Who did the exit polls? To frame it as a rejection is not
scientific polling. It is opinion polling that can be interpreted any way anyone wants. :dem:

11. well if you have an ok secure job
why would you be swayed by populism?

i guess most people who came out to vote were secure financially, so edwards didn't reach them, is this what this is all about?

15. Brainwashed.... totally brainwashed.
They are incapable of voting in their own best interest because of the pro-rich and pro-business propaganda that has totally inundated our culture. People are more worried about making sure they are being "fair" to some obscenely rich robber baron than being fair to themselves. They are giving up everything they are entitled to because they have been convinced they aren't entitled to it.

So disheartening.

Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 12:08 AM by L.A.dweller
No surprise considering the median income in NH is about $60k (well above the national average).

23. They can't think about somebody else?
Just because they are pampered and complacent, they can't think about the poor?

How are they really better than Republicans in that sense?
