Would Russia and China ever take military action against the US?
Seriously, I wonder how much shit Russia and China would put up with. For too long, the United States has acted like it is the only country in the fucking world that is allowed to make the rules. We go into any country we want, we topple governments at our whim, and we bully the United Nations into passing whatever resolutions we desire. Yet when any other country dares exercise their own sovereignty, we get our panties in a wad, and demand they cease.

I just wonder that perhaps one of these days, Russia or China might decide to send a very strong message to the United States. Perhaps bombing one of our Navy ships. Perhaps bombing some small town in the middle of Alaska. Or perhaps a full-out coordinated attack, knowing full well that the US could never take on both China and Russia at once, and would have to sue for peace?

2. They will probably act like we did during the cold war.
And how they are probably acting now behind the scenes.

3. The Chinese have a very long view of history.

They also know the empire is starting to fray.

4. I think we may find out if the American Empire is reined in. The world has been
telling us for the last 5 years that they disapprove of what we're doing. If we invade, bomb, or starve a few more nations, the rest of the world may take things into their own hands.

5. I believe China could harm us grievously without firing a shot
They could tank our economy, but that will have repercussions for them too. Russia and China, IMHO, will do things behind the scenes. They are also building strategic alliances in South America and probably the Middle East as well. They know if they hand Bushco* enough rope....

6. I doubt it....
Russia is too weak, militarily, and China owns too much of our economy to start blowing it up. Plus, China and Russia have a long history between them that isn't exactly built on trust and friendship. I would venture to say that Russia would rather be allied with Europe and America, only without becoming a bit player, which, unfortunately, is what would happen. This has forced them towards China.
T
hey are more inclined, like earlier posters said, to sell other countries the means and weapons to fight us and to act behind the scenes.

8. No.
Russia and China would not select a military option unless the US was attacking them.

This is Iran, not Russian or Chinese home soil.

At most, the Russians would smuggle weapons to Iranians. What is likely to happen though is China would stop purchasing more US treasury bonds for a period of time. The US would have to find somebody else from which to borrow, and that's going to hurt the US Dollar and the US economy.

9. Mutual self destruction
It would be suicide for any country to attack the United States. We spend as much on our military than the whole world combine and we have plenty of nukes at out disposal, so even if a country did want to attack us, they couldn't pull it off and survive.

With globalization, the economies are becoming interdependent, so there are more financial risks involved in war too.

10. Russia and China...

would fully fund and equip the Iranians and the Iraqi/Afghan insurgencies. It would be payback for what we did to the Soviets in Afghanistan. The Chinese would pick up the pace of dollar divestment. Most people don't realize they're already dumping dollars quitely. That why metal prices are going thru the roof right now, especially nickel.

I also think you would see Chinese troops in Iran to shore up their defenses, so the Iranians could invade Iraq.
