Why is it "Hillary 2008", and not "Clinton 2008"?
Someone pointed out to me that, of all the candidates, HRC doesn't use her last name in her posters, t-shirts, etc.

I was trying to figure out why. Usually name recognition is a plus for a candidate, and Bill Clinton's favorable ratings are very high.

Could it be a decision based on an attempt to maker her more personable and warm? Or, does she simply want to distance herself from Bill?

Theories?

1. I guess because If you say "Hillary"
who comes to mind? HRC. If you say "Clinton" you think big dawg. Besides, she probably also wants to highlight the fact that she's a woman.

2. Taking a page from "W"'s book?

3. 1-Because people already call her Hillary so it makes sense --
and 2-Yes, to distance herself from Bill.

Also I think it makes her more accessible, which people expect of women. I don't think it's necessarily fair, but it plays to the way people think.

4. it avoids confusion
with her husband.

She's one of the few political figures in the US who is widely recognized by her first name alone, so it works for her.

5. Same reason you saw "W" everywhere in 2000 an not just Bush!
Besides, Hillary has been known as"Hill" or "Hillary" for a LONG TIME! The differences in the bushies had to be created by his handlers!

8. Hillraisers and HillCast
Pretty clever. Or should I say PRetty clever.

She's a smart cookie, and I agree, she needs to differentiate herself from Bill -- after all they are two seperate people running in different times and eras of different problems.

7. Marketing. She runs from the Clinton name...yet uses Bill in the background.
Everyone knows to fill in the blank but she's been successful in separating herself from Bill with the Media helping. She's now a Product who has been re-invented.

9. Its called "branding" a basic concept in marketing
It has nothing to do with her being a woman.
