So Hillary is ambitious, what's wrong with that?
I heard some right wing news about Obama vs Hillary which was mostly bull shit but one line was something like this.
"Hillary Clinton is the most ambitious person running for president." It was said in a negative condescending manor.

Now isn't being ambitious one of the right "wing pull your self up by your own boot straps" themes? Sort of anti welfare queen thinking.

So how does the fact that Hillary is ambitious become a negative?

I know, women are not supposed to be ambitious, only men. That's all I can think of.

1. Nothing wrong with it and it's
sexist. I have no use for Clinton, but that's a bullshit criticism.

edit to add: and if you think politics ain't swimmin' with the sharks, I've got some ocean front property in Las Vegas, NV I'd like to sell to you.

... I do have a problem with her Lieberman-esque approach to campaigning. Oh well, at least she'll get jackassfucktard Connecticut's vote.

7. "Ambitious" morphs into Lady MacBeth when the campaign
takes a turn that incorporates winning at any cost. (You didn't think that Karl Rove cornered the market on "no prisoners", did you?)

"I don't think that another incredibly polarising figure, no matter how smart she is, and no matter how ambitious she is - and God knows, is there anybody more ambitious than Hillary Clinton? - can bring the country together," Mr Geffen said. link

One of the more recent examples and I didn't even have to look in the rw blogosphere. How sad is that?

edit to add: The Onion has a better "snark" about it than I ever could. :D

19. 'Ambition' is a POSITIVE in That Example, I Think
Edited on Thu Feb-22-07 12:07 PM by MannyGoldstein
Unless I'm missing something, he's linking smart and ambitious - and saying that despite these positives, Mrs. Clinton is untenable. Not because she is smart and ambitious.

So, rather than get caught up in a 'he said, she said' kind of thing - I'll leave you with the 'win'.

24. I heard it on 760 AM radio from San Diego, CA yesterday at approximately 6:PM while driving home
from work. 760 AM is an all day right wing talk station. Their news reports take a right wing slant and the one I heard was more like propaganda in the Hillary vs Obama vein. They made a comment that sounded condescending to me that Hillary was the most ambitious person to run for president. It is similar to the charge that a person will do anything to win.

10. People want to keep women down
Often they are not aware of their own prejudice. I have seen decent type men put her down and my own Mother thought she shouldn't run, which I attribute to jealousy.

11. Ah, well, the term is a little too easy to mis-speak
don't you think?

Anyone who has worked hard to be successful and reach their goals is "ambitious". I won't be listening to Faux for the slip of the tongue when they say 'am-bitchus' though.

12. Other than
destroying the habitat, killing those who stood in the way of expanding centers of power, and the overall goal of perfecting life to the point where it's artificial, there isn't much wrong with ambition.

14. Ambition should be made of sterner stuff
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him;
The evil that men do lives after them,
The good is oft interréd with their bones,
So let it be with Caesar…. The noble Brutus
Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Caesar answered it….
Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest,
(For Brutus is an honourable man;
So are they all; all honourable men)
Come I to speak in Caesar's funeral….
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man….
He hath brought many captives home to Rome,
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
You all did see that on the Lupercal
I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And, sure, he is an honourable man.
I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then to mourn for him?
O judgement! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
And men have lost their reason…. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar,
And I must pause till it come back to me.

18. Ambtitious....
that goes hand in hand with having to have a butt load of money - every Presidential candidate needs a few set points of criteria in order to make it through the selection process. I found this comment on par with Edwards' house situation.

22. I am anti-Hillary, but this is bullshit.

I'd sure like to know how many unambitious people they think are running for president. And what makes her "more" ambitious than any of the others? Unless she is planning to use this to create an entire industry to enrich herself in the future, e.g. privatizing DOD functions while founding/buying companies that handle military functions, then she's just a fucking amateur compared to a certain other American dynasty.

This attack on Hillary is just pure bullshit.
