Alfred Woodward, a prominent Wheaton attorney who served as a judge in DuPage County and on the Illinois Appellate Court, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, of congestive heart failure, his son said.
Mr. Woodward, 93, had lived for the last six years in the Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton, said his son Bob, a best-selling author whose reporting for the Washington Post helped uncover the Watergate scandal.

Bob Woodward considered following his father into law after his own service in the Navy, but decided to become a newspaper reporter. When he told his father of his new career plans, Mr. Woodward had two words: "You're crazy," his son said.
But Mr. Woodward, a solid Republican, proved a source of comfort and advice when his son was a young reporter writing stories for the Washington Post that led to the collapse of Richard M. Nixon's presidency.
"During Watergate, when we'd written all these stories and were alone and being denounced, I'd talk to him," his son said. "He said if those were the facts, don't worry."more-----> http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/obituaries/chi-0702220150feb22,1,2970847.story
