Conspiracy alleged in suit against Blunt

JEFFERSON CITY | The former deputy legal counsel to Gov. Matt Blunt on Wednesday sued the governor and four current or former aides, alleging a conspiracy to cover up administration activities by destroying public documents.

The lawsuit, filed in Jackson County Circuit Court, describes schemes within the governor’s office to destroy e-mails, to evade the state Sunshine Law by sending text messages on personal BlackBerrys and to fire a state employee for political reasons.

The suit was filed by Scott Eckersley, Blunt’s deputy legal counsel until fired in September. The suit says Blunt’s staff tried to discredit Eckersley after he tried to persuade the staff not to violate the Sunshine Law regarding public access to government records. The suit says Blunt or his staff tried to smear Eckersley by telling the news media that he was involved in group sex and illegal drug use, despite never conducting any investigation into those allegations.

............. The suit accuses Blunt and his staff of defamation, wrongful discharge, violations of the Sunshine Law, and violations of the whistleblower law that protects state employees who report illegal conduct.

In addition to Blunt, the suit names as defendants Ed Martin, Blunt’s former chief of staff who was replaced in November; Henry Herschel, Blunt’s former general counsel, who resigned in December; Richard AuBuchon, the state’s deputy commissioner of administration; and Rich Chrismer, Blunt’s deputy chief of staff and chief spokesman. ...........

1. Is Rove or the guy investigating Rove in prison yet?
I'll guess no.
