Yesterday on Tim Russert
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 03:11 PM by ooglymoogly
Chuck Todd said that Edwards supporters were the less educated, effectively saying they were uninformed and stupid; And that my friends is pure and vicious propaganda that has no basis in fact. Judging from just the people on this site my guess is that Edwards supporters are the only people dealing in fact and that too must include Kusinich supporters

On edit, could only find the last half of the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewO-SBFNPk0 will see if I can find the section of the comment

3. It was some other show
There was also a New York Times guy (can't remember his name) who said that George Bush's White House would be happy to hand their legacy on foreign policy over to Hillary Clinton.

5. Do you know which show?
If he was just reporting demographic data, it's not an insult to Edwards or his supporters.

Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 03:00 PM by ooglymoogly
I did not see the part with Hill. It was Sunday and I do not think it was a rerun though I could be wrong. I rarely watch Tim Russert but was flipping through the nesw chanels. Will do some checking

4. Don't they get some of that information from exit polls?
Do they take demographic data (income levels, ethnicity, education) when doing exit polls?

10. Polls ask what education level they have
I answer that I have a bachelor's degree. Some people say that they haven't completed high school. Polls don't ask people if they are educated or not.

14. Thanks...that BS so pisses me off. I think the op is acting "uneducated."
Notice I didn't say "LESS EDUCATED." Which simply means LESS educated. No one has said any of them are stupid or lazy or whatever. When a poll asks for education level, some respondents will be "less educated" than others. Why the OP thinks this translates into stupid is, well...stupid.

16. His analysis was correct, but Chuck Todd is jerk
Tiny subconscious statements like that tell a lot about people, in my view. Instead of softening the phrase, he uses one that connotes stupidity.

I may not have expressed it properly. It is an effort to cast Edwards supporters as less than those of Hill and Obama.

13. So if he would have said "According to exit polls..."
you would have been OK with that?

Maybe I've just taken too much political science and sociology in my schooling so I have a detachment from phrasing like he used. I know where he was going so I let it go.

15. It would have given that outrageous comment some basis
no matter how flimsy. Please someone show me this poll that would give this man leeway to make such an insult.

I trust CNN as far as I can throw my car. CNN has been blatantly against Edwards and Kucinich and rarely shows either face until recently when it has become too obvious to everyone and now they begrudging show a few (comparatively) of Edwards appearances and strengths while giving near wall to wall to Clinton and Obama. They are no longer honest brokers of the news and haven't been for a long time. This is the most self serving poll I have ever seen. A better or more self serving poll could not have been filled out by Carl Rove or * himself. CNN has 0, zero credibility having brought us Hr.* and Co. and the war and now they are selecting our democratic candidates for us by these transparent tactics.

20. We should start a non-profit
I'm sure that we could get money to create an organization that confirms the veracity of polls. The conspiracy theorist in me always wonders if people who got polled actually gave these answers.

L.A. Times reported the same numbers. After a little googling I found a site that listed the different news outlets and where they got their data.

21. Yes you are right...It is vital that we have independent corroboration
of all polls that effect elections especially exit. Anybody who is not a conspiracy theorist after the last 7 years is a fool. Thanx for your input....ps I sense that this "uneducated" thing will become the meme based on this poll and Chuck Todd was Just the first to use it, at least that I have seen. LA Times also a b*sh bot paper. I don't know who I would trust these days. The press is no longer a free press.

like CNN and Fox and MSNBC or the LA Times, The Boston Herald, the Moony Times and like right wing rags in other words any part of the "vast right wing conspiracy" that now has a strangle hold on this country.

17. So if someone says that I (a college drop out)...
So if someone says that I (a college drop out) am less educated than my cousin (with a Master's degree), that person is effectively saying that I'm uniformed and stupid? Or (more likely) am I simply looking for insults in places where they don't exist?

I vote for the latter myself-- because she is quite a bit more educated than I am.
