Ok. Everyone seems to be promoting their own candidate.
That's democracy.

I see value in ALL the Democratic candidates. Honestly, I do.

Of course, I have my own personal favorite... as I'm sure you all do.

Then something happened yesterday.

I started reading about all the marvelous advances and cures that stem cell research might bring about.

I spoke with family back east and how more than half my family have lost their jobs.

I watch as the economy gets worse and worse and worse.

The war goes on and on and on and the Republicans are drooling over the idea of fighting Iran.

Then it dawned on me. The bottom line:

I DON'T CARE WHO GETS IN -- AS LONG AS IT'S A DEMOCRAT.

WE CAN'T SURVIVE 4 MORE YEARS OF GOP CONTROL!!!

SO, GO AHEAD.
PROMOTE YOUR FAVORITE CANDIDATE
AND LET'S ALL PRAY A DEMOCRAT GETS ELECTED THIS YEAR

8. I'll be able to do the same without holding my nose. Any of the
Democratic candidates is hands down better than anyone the Republicans have to offer in this election cycle.

6. I live in Michigan. They PISSED on MY vote and give NO REPRESENTATION.
Anyone that says I have some "holy obligation" to spread my butt cheeks and accept someone ELSE'S choice when my voice is ignored can go stuff it.

10. Yeah, that's what we thought when we had the mid-term elections.
Just get the Dems in there and all will be swell, we thought. That's not working out so well, so I'm going to skip the praying (atheist here) and keep on plugging way for Edwards. He's the one who'll take us in a new direction. Hillary and Obama? Not so much. I've had it with the Dems who think being bipartisan is both a virtue and effective. It's neither.

12. Stop saying we're not doing any better. The Republicans don't think we're the same as them...
So why do you?

Sigh. I expected you to stop the Hillary-bashing for five seconds. How silly of me.

Listen to an actual Republican and they won't tell you they like her or she's the same as them. It's you who left the party. And it's a party, not your personal catering service. Care about the Democrats, not just your little corner of the mat.

19. there is a widely held theory on DU
that progressives are much more informed than the average Republican.

Also, somehow you missed that that person bashed Obama too. When it comes to bashing, it's a two person race. I care about the Democrats though. That's why I wanna see Clinton defeated in the primary. I just don't wanna see our party go backwards.

14. Yup. It's heartening to read more and more
posts like yours in the past day.

Sensible folks coming out, I guess.

First priority, far more important than any other, is getting a Dem in the WH. Second is a more strongly Dem. Congress.

Beyond that, which candidate gets the nomination is, while important, far less important.

16. Well...that would be Hillary. Will she and Bill ever Prosecute the Bush/Cheney CRIMES, though?
Or...will they cover them over like they did with Iran-Contra? Would OBAMA prosecute the Bushies or would he feel, like Hillary says, that "that's all in the Past..and we need to focus on tomorrow and what we do about what Bushies have done and not bother about WHY they did it?" (I'm paraphrasing Hillary from her Russert Interview that I watched on Sunday Morning.

Maybe we should just let "bygones be bygones" with Bush/Cheney Crimes...and "MOVE ON?" Is that the wisest thing...given the crises that Bush/Cheney put us into? Don't we have an emergency that needs a "firm, experienced hand at the tiller of the TITANIC?" Shouldn't we just "forget the past" so we can deal with their mistakes and let them go off into wherever they will go?

There has to be a realization growing, even beyond the party, that any of the people campaigning in this primary will be a vast improvement to things as they are. More than vast. The change in how the world will see us, how we conduct the business and the policies of this nation, even how we feel about ourselves will be almost geologic in it's shift.

The present parties in charge have made this inevitable. If one looks at what has been done and there is no revulsion, no anger, no WTF screamed, you are officially Hatter Mad.

That having been said, there is capability in all the candidates. All have a strong message, all have been a U.S. Senator so there can be no misgivings about their knowledge of how government works, and that is must be allowed to get back to work again. They are passionate, committed and confident people. There are disagreements galore to dissect, and each has an approach that is uniquely hers or his. There is also animosity and discord.

What a great time to be a Democrat.

In the end, we will select a fine candidate, for there are nothing but strong, dedicated people to choose from. They have to be. Look at what they'll be trying to fix should they get the job.

More power to them.

23. Unfortunately...
...every president after Carter (but not including him), has been corrupted by big business.

Reagan (over his 8 years) let all the Wall Street jackels out. Bush 41 was a tool of big business. Bubba Clinton took Chinese contributions & signed NAFTA into law. Bush 43 has been a useful tool throughout.

DC is awash with millions contributed by those who gain billions in return.

The cesspool remains -- regardless of who's in power. It's the "money or bullet" corruption.

Those who hold the real power say to our elected officials, "Here's the money & here's the bullet. Take your choice, for you and your family."

25. exactly . . . while a Democrat is still preferable, change will only happen at the margins . . .
and much of it will be no more than window dressing . . . the war will continue, insurance companies will continue to eat up huge percentages of healthcare spending, American jobs will still go to India, the economy will continue to tank, and there's not a damned thing any of the candidates can do about it . . .

26. my "hide" and "ignore" buttons have been getting a work out
GD is so much nicer now. Can't tell you how many threads I've hidden over the past 3 days. I don't even bother reading the threads, if the title has any Dem candidate in it - it goes on hide.

the flaming, name calling and general rabidly-ripping-foaming-at-the-mouth has me totally disgusted and I not only refuse to participate, I also refuse to even give those posts credit for a "view"

I've been to each of the candidates websites, read all their material, and to tell the truth - there's not a hellavalot of difference between any of their positions.

Whoever gets the nomination and (crossing fingers) wins the white house will still have to work with congress - so the end result may not look like anything they have initially proposed. Campaign promises rarely resemble the end product.

We've been dragged into a deep hole and covered with shit for the past 7 years. Whoever takes the white house has tasks of humongus proportions to deal with - from domestic to foreign issues, taxes, the economy, immigration, foreign policy, WOT, energy, environment, health care, social security, education - you name it and it has to be fixed.

This election is historical in many respects - not only because this country has never been so broken, but also because this is the first time there is no 'sitting president/VP' running office in I don't know how many years, it's also the first time that members of minority groups are the frontrunners and stand an excellent chance of winning.

let's not be crabs in a bucket pulling each other down.
