REPORT: Noon protest/rally still in progress (Santa Rosa, CA)
Looked like some sort of spontaneous demonstration on College Ave. near the 4th St. split. Crowd looked like about half students & peace movement types, probably more than 100 total.

What surprised me was that the other half looked like corporate employees on lunch breaks; further surprising was the site, which appeared to be the steps of an office building mostly containing a large Century 21 real estate office and a title company. Maybe folks in that industry are upset that Bush has done nothing about the home mortgage default crisis? Don't know.

A constant stream of motorists were honking in support and flashing thumbs-up and peace signs at the demonstrators, who were waving their "Bush = Satan" signs back at the traffic waiting at four-way stoplights. Didn't see any TV trucks or press while I was there but they could have been there earlier and left, since 2PM is a little late to get on the 5 o'clock news.

1. I'll bet some of them are occupying our congresswomen's office..

Lynn Woolsey's office is right there on College Ave. I'll bet the demonstration is part of the Project Occupation actions:

2. Am I missing something
Lynn Woolsey always votes against funding, and is one of the main campaigners to end the war. Why would they be protesting at her office?

4. That would be beyond silly. I can't think of a better Rep. than Woolsey.
If she's not anti-war enough, no one is.

Personally, I'm very proud of her.

6. I had no idea of the extent of the demonstrations and arrests
Thanks Webster for posting that. It's bad enough for the media to screen out stories like this, but when a DU moderator makes an inadvertent error and reclassifies a news story like this as an editorial instead of LBN, even fewer folks see it. Thank you for continuing to call attention to these actions.

5. I've seen some anti-war protesters on that corner, before.
Women in Black, perhaps.

7. Looks like it was a Move On protest at Woolsey's office
I found an email from Move On that I had missed. They were demonstrating to "keep the pressure on" legislators to end the war.
