the tenet that the world is no more complicated than you are capable of understanding without learning or thinking.
evolution can't possibly be correct because it involves some complicated phenomena, giant diagrams of ancestry, and worst of all, having to consider and think about evidence. creation is correct because it's easy to understand.
note, creation is not correct and then, isn't it nice that it's easy to understand. no, creation's easy-to-understandiness (i might forward that word to stephen colbert) is how we know that it is correct.
kind of a twisted variant of occam's razor.
if one is religious, you might say that god wouldn't make the world any more complicated than you are capable of understanding, but a religious perspective is not a necessary component of stupidicentrism. though it might help.
this also explains much of the iraq war. the iraq war was a good idea because it was a simple solution. the middle east is a mess, always has been. send in the troops is an easy answer, therefore it's right.
saddam had wmds because it was a simple explanation. he had 'em, he hid 'em. simple. opponents had this complicated thing about inspections and tags and seals and records and how can anyone follow all that? don't bother with all this evidence of looking and not finding, because "he hid 'em" is simple and therefore correct.
i think this notion explains a lot of right wing (especially neocon) philosophy and attitude.
