Kentucky may allow Election Day drinks

The possibility of buying a drink on Election Day draws a mixed reaction in Georgetown.

A committee in the Kentucky House has passed a proposal to lift the ban on the sale of liquor while the polls are open on Election Day. The measure now goes to the full House for consideration.

David Brashears, manager of the Old Towne Sports Grill, on Main Street downtown, was pleased to hear of the proposal.

"I would like to see it (passed) because our business hurts when we can't sell alcohol," he said. "People want to come here to drink while they eat and watch ball games, so it's an inconvenience to them as well."

On the other hand, Yen Shu, owner of The Plum Tree Restaurant for 20 years, doesn't care one way or another.
