FWIW, in 1992 Wisconsin had a nasty 3-way Democratic primary in the Senate race.

FWIW, in 1992 Wisconsin had a nasty 3-way Democratic primary in the Senate race.
The two front-runners knocked each other off with their nasty campaigns, leaving only the third guy standing. The third guy then walked in, took the General Election, and went on to become the most popular Wisconsin senator since Bill Proxmire.

The third guy was Russ Feingold.

Remind you of anything?

2. There was some great adds in that campaign.
One of them was a video of Feingold standing next to a wall while people threw mud on to the wall as if they were throwing mud at him. He then said "I must be getting close" or something along that line.
