Larisa Alexandrovna: "The Consequences of the Bush Administration..."
http://www.atlargely.com/2008/01/the-consequence.html

The Consequences of the Bush administration...

This is what will ultimately be the legacy of a failed and corrupted presidency - terrorism as a state onto itself. A short round-up of news for today can summarize the entire foreign policy horror of the Bush-Cheney cabal. Our first stop is in Lebanon:

"BEIRUT (Reuters) - A car bomb targeted a U.S. diplomatic vehicle in Beirut on Wednesday, killing at least three people, but the U.S. State Department said no Americans were hurt in the blast.

"There were no American diplomats or American citizens in the car at the time. There were four Beirut residents who do not work for the embassy who were killed in the blast," said State Department spokesman Sean McCormack."

As you know, a foreigner's hotel in Afghanistan was hit last night. Then let's look at Pakistan:

"ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistan’s premier military intelligence agency has lost control of some of the networks of Pakistani militants it has nurtured since the 1980s, and is now suffering the violent blowback of that policy, two former senior intelligence officials and other officials close to the agency say."

No, those handlers were originally the US under Reagan. But back to the latest terrorism in Pakistan, an attack on Monday:

- snip -

Now to Turkey:

"ANKARA/SULAIMANIYA, Iraq, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Turkish warplanes attacked Kurdish guerrilla targets in northern Iraq on Tuesday, Turkey's General Staff said, but there were no reports of casualties or serious damage.

And to Russia, where questioning the terrorist attack in Beslan is now a crime:

- snip -

In other words, terrorism, brutality, violence, the rise of the Soviet machine and the decline in US prestige and power will be Mr. Bush's legacy. Here are but a few highlights:

  • His policies have created a training ground for terrorists (Iraq), who once numbered in the 100s and spread around the globe, now number in the thousands and are uniting under a single flag of anti-US sentiment.
  • His policies have opened up the door for Turkey to move against the Kurds in Iraq.
  • His policies have armed terrorists in Saudi Arabia who turn up in Iraq to kill US soldiers while also killing Iraqi Shi'a, causing Iran to defend the Shi'a by arming that side of the fight.
  • His policies have provided weapons to terrorists in Pakistan who in turn then bomb their own country as well as our ally, India.
  • His policies have created the most profitable heroin market (Afghanistan) in the world.
  • His policies have essentially put the only two democracies in the region, India and Israel, under extreme threat.
  • His spending on Iraq, forced him to borrow foreign money to unheard of numbers, causing the dollar to fall, and the US to be strip-mined to pay off some of that debt.
  • His disinterest in the welfare of the US military and his reliance on mercenaries to perform core military functions, has degraded our abilities and the strength of our armed forces.

    - snip -

And just think, this twisted cowboy and his cabal of headless horsemen still continue their deadly ride for another year.

    6. I always wonder why people assume that this was not always the goal
He has successfully privatized the military and state dept.
He has successfully proliferated nuclear technology so the nulear terror threat could become real

    21. Exactly...
It's mission accomplished in privatization land.

It's a bogus war against something that doesn't really exist that can literally never end, so it's mission accomplished in military-industrial-congressional complex land.

It's 99,000 acres (or is it sq/mi?) in the Paraguayan jungle, so it's mission accomplished in palatial hideout land.

It's the death of the working and middle classes and devolution of the US into a banana republic, so it's mission accomplished for the ruling class and its final solution for the peasantry.

It's bankrupting the US treasury, so it's mission accomplished and good riddance to those New Deal social programs that occasionally do a little good for the poor and disenfranchised. Fuck them; they never vote GOP anyway.

Hell, what's not to like? They had their marching orders from PNAC, they ran with them, they made sure 9/11 excused all the atrocities like genocide and torture, they made sure mass media did its usual suck-up job cheerleading and currying favor, and the whole damn coup happened in plain sight with no meaningful objection from what's ridiculously known as the opposition party.

Sounds like a job well done. Take the rest of the year off, guys. Please.

    17. When will they publish the encyclopedia under the same title?
Churchill was prolific, but this administrations fuck-ups and associated consequences are going to fill dozens of volumes. Hopefully a few legal tomes and court filings, as well. The world awaits the one titled "The Hague" with greater anticipation than any of the Harry Potter books.

Why does no one capable of stopping it dare call it that?
