The problem I see with the Nevada caucuses...
is that they will be held in a work place with heavy union backing. If everyone you work with, including your union representatives, are there to see how you vote, some may feel a bit intimidated to stand with your union's choice.

Caucuses are not perfect, and neither are primaries, and I generally favor running a gauntlet of different voting types for our candidates to see how they fair on different playing fields. However, public "voting" in the workplace is kind of rough. Perhaps it was to give a state more union representation, but this one seems to favor only one union.

2. I generally disagree...

I think you bring up a valid point. It is legitimate to question if workers would
feel pressured to back a candidate that their boss is backing.

However, I really feel strongly about this. Americans cherish their right to vote.
They respect that everyone has that right. It's such a sacred and noble act. People
tend to be very private about politics and there's sort of an unspoken, universal
understanding that a person's politics is his own business.

I know that there might be circumstances where a worker did feel this pressure. However,
in the overwhelming majority of situations, bosses will not pressure workers and workers
will not feel that they must vote for who their boss does. This wouldn't happen in large
enough numbers to affect the outcome.

The vast majority of Americans understand that each person has the right to make up their
mind about their voting decisions. The ones who don't are a tiny minority.

3. Caucuses in general disenfranchize some...
... because people who work or travel are left out, but the count is public and considered good. Whereas, primaries, where there is "secret voting" are becoming suspect. What would be nice would be a caucus that people could show up to, by precinct, at a specific 3 times on voting day... say 6AM, Noon, 7PM, and allow for absentee votes that are publicly counted at the last caucus.

4. yep; secret voting and one-day national primary. otherwise you don't know what
people really think. having the primaries spread out over months is like releasing exit polls at 9am on GE election day.
