FBI suspects Cpl. Cesar Laurean has fled to Mexico.

Just heard this on CNN. It's the Marine who killed Cpl. Maria Lauterbach. I hope they catch the dirtbag, as he is obviously very dangerous, but I wonder how difficult it'll become if the FBI is right.

1. Not hard at all
FBI sends arrest warrant to Interpol, Interpol sends it to the Federal Police... and there you have it... he becomes a wanted man in the time it takes for the paperwork to fly across a computer network

3. But Mexico won't let him be extradited if he will face the death penalty.

8. Is he a Mexican Citizen? And he is a military service member
Mexico has a death penalty for the Military... rarely used... but he falls under military justice.

Hell, I won't be too shocked if he is arrested and placed under the custody of Military Police

13. But apparenlty they can declare him an undesirable, in which case there is no extradition issue
they just deport him immediately.

2. Which begs the question....
If such a high profile murder suspect is able to cross over to Mexico with relative ease, wouldn't terrorist be able to do the same thing?

6. It sounds like he had help
Makes you wonder how much the Marines wanted the truth covered up

is if you have someone who's picture is plastered all over the place and he is able to cross over the border there is nothing to prevent him from crossing back.

15. He flew in a jet...
his truck has been found at a motel next to the airport, with shuttle service running every thirty minutes.

He was probably on that plane before his wife ever turned over his note to the authorities, admitting that he'd buried Cpl. Lauterbach.

9. I think he used his 4 hour start
to catch a flight out - before his wife had even given the note to the police.
At that time he was not a suspect. They still thought Cpl. Maria Lauterbach was alive.

12. Did anyone read the Sunday Times? 121 murders committed by soldiers upon returning home
I watched this case (Maria Lauterbach) on the news as I was reading the paper (on Friday or Saturday) and noticed an article about soldiers who had killed a fellow soldier because he didn't want to go through a robbery with them. I said out loud I wonder how frequently this happens, and then boom.... it was the cover story of the Sunday times. How didn't that generate more attention? It is disgusting our lack of interest and support for the mental health of returning soldiers...... they are in a BAD place right now. 121 murders is crazy.

14. Same thing happened after Nam
and it didn't garner any attention back then either

Vets, they didn't have the good sense to die... that is the attitude I get from most folks... use them and forget about them

16. It's very upsetting
I was glad the Times put it on their Sunday front page and expected it to get some attention.... but it got none.

The article says that in 1/4 of the cases the victims are spouses or children of their killer.
