N.Y. cops find stomach-churning squalor
N.Y. cops find stomach-churning squalor
By FRANK ELTMAN, Associated Press Writer

Police called to a suburban family's home encountered a stomach-churning scene: dozens of urine-filled bottles strewn amid animal feces, soiled toilet paper and trash piled several feet high. The discovery at the white, two-story Cape Cod-style house was made after authorities were summoned by a man embroiled in a bitter divorce; his estranged wife lived there with their three children.

"The stench would drop you to your knees," the estranged husband, Raymond Young Jr., told reporters Wednesday after leading them on a tour of the home he once shared with Deborah Young and their daughters, ages 10, 12 and 14. A judge scheduled a hearing Friday to consider a request by the husband's attorney to have the children removed from their mother's custody. A Suffolk County police spokeswoman also confirmed that the case had been referred to Child Protective Services.

"No one can live in the house," attorney Joseph Quatela said. "There are hundreds of bottles filled with urine, there are stacks 4 or 5 foot high of used toilet paper." Quatela said the Youngs' divorce proceedings began in 2003. Since then, Young has lost visitation rights, and has had to refute accusations that he sexually abused them, the attorney said. Raymond Young's parents, whom Quatela described as "pillars of their community," also were accused of sexually abusing the girls, but said an investigation determined those claims to be unfounded, he said.

The estranged wife's attorney did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment. Deborah Young, who reportedly was visiting her parents in upstate New York, told Newsday in Thursday editions that her husband had no right to be inside the house. Asked about her estranged husband's claims, she said, "Well, I don't know how much of any mess might be mine and how much they did. They've been coming in and out of the house through the basement." ...

1. all a bitter (or nut-job) ex-wife has to do is make accusations of a sexual nature...

SCREW due process. SCREW innocent until proven guilty. what a load of crap.

it should be a law that if accusations are made that ultimately prove false, the one making them automatically loses custody and ALL visitation rights. forever.

3. The problem is that most molestation is male family/friends against girls.
Unfortunately, there are many vengeful charges like this during bitter divorces. At the same time, there are real cases where this is really happening.

I had my eyes opened about this when our neighbor, and Ear, Nose & Throat surgeon, wash charged with sexually molesting his daughter during a divorce battle. We stood beside him, thought his wife was a vindictive bitch, he was formally charged and found guilty at trial. He served time in state prison, lost his medical license, and last I knew they were still refusing to reinstate it (10 years now).

It had been going on for a few years and he began "grooming" the younger daughter so the older daughter told her mother. Fortunately, her mother believed her and checked into things. Interestingly, the divorce started out as an "amicable" one but then he apparently tried some financial shenanigans and started a custody battle to have custody of the daughters.

Anyway, it taught me a few things about how these cases might look to a family friend compared to what's really going on within the family.

4. I've had two male friends who were each falsley accused...
they both ended up getting custody of their child(both were girls) as well.

but it's a HELLISH ordeal for an innocent man to go/be put thru.

5. If the story about the state of the house
is correct then this woman is mentally ill. She is a danger to her children more so than some others who can never throw anything away, as she is saving human waste. Those children should be taken away immediately.
