Cheney, proud recipient of 5 wartime draft deferments tells cheering troops US won't relent in Iraq

US Vice President Dick Cheney met with Japan's emperor today and later flew to a US aircraft carrier where he told thousands of cheering American troops the US would not relent in the war on terror.

Mr Cheney, who arrived in Japan yesterday, was given a 19-gun salute as he boarded the USS Kitty Hawk and began his 20-minute address to about 4,000 troops in the hangar bay.

He praised Japan as ``one of America's closest allies,'' and said relations have never been better, adding that Tokyo and Washington ``understand our duties''.

``America will stay on the offensive on the war on terror,'' he said. ``The American people will not support a policy of retreat.''

3. What's more unnerving is that the troops cheer for this
hollow man who blathers on about patriotism until he personally has to show some...

5. Squids. Pfft.
You won't get many cheers from Army guys who have done three tours over here. The Navy hasn't had any increased hardship from the GWOT (other than Squids like me, who are serving in Army billets in Iraq because the Army's running out of people and the admirals don't want to lose funding).

Excuse me. I think I'm gonna be sick. :puke:

Hey Dick- our National Guard can use a few M4's. A war criminal AND a coward.

6. You know what burns my butt?
when bush or cheney or any of the bushies gets up there and says "the American people will/won't...."

How the hell do they know or even care what "the american people" say or think when they (the bushies) don't pay attention to what "the american people" are saying?

In Nov. 2007 - "the American people" threw out the republics mostly based on the disaster in Iraq. polls show "the American people" want out of Iraq NOW.
Polls show "the American people" are disgusted and fed-up with bush and cheney.

Yet - bush-cheney Inc. continues to interpret what, we, "the American people", according to their own spin.
