Does anyone recall the vehicle Gore drove in An Inconvenient Truth?
I'm on another message board and someone is adamant that he was cruising around in a Hummer. I saw the movie quite a while ago and seem to recall some sort of black vehicle while in Tennessee, but a Hummer? No.

1. I believe it was a Ford Explorer
I am absolutely certain it was NOT a Hummer.

6. #1 they're wrong. #2 don't even bother with such idiots.
Some folks aren't ready to accept reality, and instead need to dwell on denial/ad hominem things.

Don't waste your time. Make them feel insignificant by treating them that way.

I mean, WHAT DOES IT MATTER WHAT GORE DROVE?

It is a classic denial tactic to focus on individuals.

Don't even go there.

INSTEAD: Ask them if they accept the reality of global warming and that human activity is causing it.

If they say no, ask them why. Keep the pressure on THEM. Don't allow them to change the subject to Gore's house or car or air travel or ...

end rant/

8. It's a school-related message board...
and I'm preparing my response. I need to have my facts straight since I'm being graded on it. But yes, I agree with what you're saying and had planned to work in much of what you "ranted."

12. Your response should be "what does it matter"?
Other than that, if you want to jump through hoops for an obviously anti-Gore question, rent the movie.

14. I've seen the movie...
but don't remember the vehicle, other than it was a dark SUV. No one is jumping through hoops -- I asked a simple question. My response will be "Al Gore drove an XX in the film, not a Hummer." Why is that so difficult?

13. Answer the question with this question: If Gore comitted suicide
to reduce his carbon footprint, would that convince you that global warming is happening and that humans are causing it?

EVERY single scientific academy and society in EVERY nation (and there are dozens) - the Royal Society and the National Academy of Sciences for example - agree that global warming is happening and that human production of greenhouse gases is causing it.

Given that.....what does Gore's vehicle matter?

That's what you should be asking.

Don't meekly conform and give them the answer they want.

16. I don't know what was in the movie but I found this:
at the bottom of the transcript
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0606/13/lkl.01.html

GORE: I drive a hybrid. Tipper and I got a Lexus hybrid. And we have a couple of Priuses in the family with our children. And I encourage people to make environmentally conscious choices because we all have to solve this climate crisis.
