Thompson's evangelical votes would have gone to Huckabee. Is Fred in this just to help McCain and propel him through the South by taking Huckabee's evangelical votes? Huckabee was in the race before Fred.

1. "Was Fred in this just to be the spoiler for Huckabee in SC?"
Why not, it works for Hillary having Edwards remaining in the race.

14. I wouldn't count of Edwards supporters going to Obama if John dropped out.
But I don't think John will drop out, so I don't have to make that choice.

16. I like both Edwards and Hillary better than Obama
because I think they are more progressive. I voted for Edwards in 2004 and I would vote for Hillary before I'd vote for Obama. Obama's comments about Reagan and Repubs being the party of ideas as well as his spin on the Nevada election have been disheartening to me. I was leaning Obama a week or so ago because I thought he would appeal to independents in the general. Now I think he's selling out.

Still, I'll vote for Obama before I vote for McCain or any other Repub.

2. I wondered about that too. It would explain why he looked so damn happy tonight
He finally gets to go home and take a nap.

4. I agree he's happy to go home. I think he was only doing this to please Chesty McBoobsalot, his
much younger, pushy and obnoxious new wife...

6. She really is obnoxious and a little snoot. I heard her speak for the first time yesterday
and she insisted Fred was going to WIN in SC and do VERY WELL in Nevada. Huh? What planet is she living on?

She kept interrupting what's-her-name on MSNBC and was snotty as hell. BAD, BAD, BAD first impression on me.

10. Uh Oh . . . . . Sounds like Dead Fred might get beat up tonight.
Maybe he can take refuge in the lagoon till she calms down a little.

3. I disagree. Thompson's LAW AND ORDER votes would have gone to McCain.
Or maybe even a few to Rudy--not many, but a few.

Thompson appealed to sophisticated conservatives who watched network television with adult themes.

7. I am not disputing that he got evangelical votes.
But he didn't get ONLY evangelical votes.

What I am saying is that his SOPHISTICATED conservative votes would have gone to McCain, is all...

12. There actually are.
Newt Gingrich, William F. Buckley, John Fucking Fund, those types. They've got 'em in SC too...

The odd thing about SC is that, unlike most locales, they have Republicans who actually served in the military--it ain't a Chickenhawk bunch, down there. Fully a quarter of GOP voters are military or former military. too. Those folks aren't all fundies, either. They drink, they smoke, they swear, and they don't want Unka Sam takin' "THEIR MONEY."

Stratezing is part of winning. Winning is the name of the game

15. Thompson's too stupid and selfish to come up with that...
More than likely, he had nothing else to do, and frequent-flier miles to burn.

cooperate--if this really occurred.
