surge update - At least 22 killed in Iraq violence, 90 suspects held (Roundup)
Baghdad - At least 22 people were killed in acts of violence in Iraq, including gunmen from the al-Qaeda terrorist network, while at least 90 terrorist suspects were rounded up in raids by US and Iraqi forces across the country, Iraqi and US officials said Sunday.

The Iraqi military killed 14 gunmen and rounded up 60 suspects in raids across the country over the last 24 hours, the military said in a statement carried by the Voices of Iraq (VOI) news agency on Sunday.

Ten suspected al-Qaeda militants from al-Ali village were arrested in a separate operation by the US army in the northern Diyala river valley, according to a statement by the US military.
