6. So damn true - and I say this as a person who has been there
as a Christian. I see so much hatred at times towards people of my faith - but I guess I liken it to the primaries. Find all the negative you can to beat someone down and make em look bad, and when the positive is mentioned ignore it and harp yet again on the negative.

Building up seems so much harder than bringing down....

7. Hatred feels good. Hatred feels powerful.
When a person hates another person he or she will use any rhetorical device in order to dehumanize the person in question, providing that person with a false sense of superiority.

Then the issue really isn't about the person they're hating... it's about the person DOING the hating.

15. I agree.
That's why Obama's message resonates with me, tho I haven't made up my mind 100% yet.

13. Welcome to DU and I think it important not to confuse hate with anger.
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 06:46 PM by BeHereNow
I can be REALLY angry with someone with out hating them.

In the case of many of my fellow citizens, democrats
and republicans alike, I am EXTREMELY ANGRY because they
choose to remain ignorant of the world and the people
who are running it and therefore vote AGAINST
the interests of WE, the PEOPLE.

I don't hate them, I'm just REALLY pissed off
at losing my country with their complicity.

14. Oh, I'm not.
I was reading here a long time before I joined and I've always seen plenty of people come right out and say they 'hate' the Republicans, wish them death and illness etc.

8. In a nutshell, it's Schrödinger's paradox. Flawed.
The problem is, everybody has to agree. As with pacifism, the concept is noble but illogical.

12. What kind of differences specifically should we live with? Whether someone likes jeans and another
likes skirts? Or whether we should have a primarily fascist govt., or a lib govt.? :)
