CBS "Global Warming" program...
I missed it, but my Dad told me that it was a good show, and that part of it talked about how Clinton politicized GW science only pushing scientists to overstate the problem.

Does anyone know about this story and have any links on it?

Also, is a copy of the program online anywhere yet?

2. Maybe overstate the science... I didn't see it. Hoping others did.
Or know the history of the allegations.

6. From what I hear from scientists who have studied climate change
there have been UNDERstatements about global warming for decades now. ]If you read everything written about it during the Clinton era and read the current projections, you'll see that this is true.

4. Actually, it was a re-run.
It should be on the CBS News website.
Clinton? Clinton wasn't in it at all.

9. not true--there is mention of clinton; i'm listening to the audio of it now
"politically, hansen considers himself an independent and he's had trouble with *both* parties. he says from time to time the clinton administration wanted to hear that warming was *worse* than it was. but hansen refused to spin the science *that* way"

5. I watched it and heard that stated, but he also said Bush gagged him from speaking and...
... had lawyers re-write the scientific findings.

I don't know if there are any links to it on line.

(CBS)
Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008
60 Minutes will not be seen this Sunday, Jan. 20.

Taking its place will be CBS News Presents: "The Age Of Warming"

Nowhere is the evidence of global warming as striking than near the earth’s poles. CBS News correspondent Scott Pelley's report brings him to the top and the bottom of the world, where scientists point out the effects of the warming trend. He also speaks to NASA’s top scientist studying climate, who says the Bush administration has restricted what he can say about global warming. Catherine Herrick and Bill Owens are the producers.

An all-new edition of 60 Minutes returns on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

10. It wouldn't surprise me. Gore pushed Clinton in those days, but he didn't believe it was overstated.
Basically the scientist was saying that they wanted him to say something that the science didn't support at that time (but which others might have intuited in any case). Of course as time has gone on the science has gotten better and the support for the evidence has become significantly more persuasive. Thus one might have called the Clinton/Gore admin somewhat prophetic, but it wasn't something that couldn't have been intuited.

Plus the scientist made it sound like the pressure for making it "sound worse" wasn't nearly as bad as Bush's complete censorship, I believe the scientist mentioned this primarily to show that, yes, these sorts of pressures come from all sides. And I think the point was made that Bush is just completely insane as far as censorship goes.
