3. I still pick my candidates based on their stand on the issues...

5. I still use issues to determine my vote
but sadly too many people don't. They work from "elect-ability" that elusive term that is defined by the MSM.

12. Which iteration/edition of the candidate are we supposed to go by?
In 2000, Lieberman was the 2nd greatest democrat, and The Chimp was running as a 'uniter', who'd stay away from 'nation-building' foreign entanglements.

In 2008, two of the candidates I would have most wanted to see in the race, Gore and Feingold, chose not to run. (Making them even more qualified, in my view.)

6. That was my MIL's thinking
We had a family dinner on Sat and she asked us who we were voting for. Me, my wife, BIL and his wife all said Edwards. Her comment was, but Hillary is in the lead. She has CNN on nonstop during the day.

7. It now seems so long ago...
but early, early in the process, before a vote was even cast, the "polls" narrowed it down to the three candidates who could bring in the most cash. I wasn't surprised that the people who spend their lives in front of a television set went for it so easily, I was surprised that so many on a politically astute message board weren't more outraged. Yes, perhaps I'm a little more upset because the candidate I favored was one who was dismissed so handily. I don't follow Rall that much, but this is so spot on, it should go in the Smithsonian as a dated reminder of when it became clear our democracy was falling apart.
