Stonewall Democrat is Elected as America's First Black, Lesbian Mayor

http://stonewalldemocrats.org/

This week, Cambridge (MA) City Council member Denise Simmons was unanimously selected by her peers to serve as Mayor. Simmons, who is a member of the Bay State Stonewall Democrats, becomes America's first African American Lesbian to serve as mayor of a city.
Simmons term as mayor follows the strong and successful term of Ken Reeves, who is also Black and gay. Reeves is also a member of the Bay State Stonewall Democrats.

2. Go Cambridge!
I'm not suprised that this city is the first one to break this particular barrier. They don't call it "The People's Republic of Cambridge" for nothing. :D

5. wooowoo ! I love my state!
My mayor is white and gay- and also the first legally married gay mayor in the country. Just reelected in the fall!.

The down-side--- he is a republican ( yet doesn't act like one...weird, but that's MA for ya)

6. Most of our repukes in MA would be Dems in other states
Unfortunately, Mittens was a huge exception to that rule.

7. Outstanding
I hope she has a wonderful and uneventful term as mayor, because nothing puts the lie to the homophobes and change ministry folks than nothing happening.
