Bill Clinton SLAPPED by speaker in Atlanta
January 21, 2008

GOOD ON MAYOR FRANKLIN....bigdog will get the same in S.C> when the megalomaniac goes door to door.
Some drama in Atlanta

From the AJC:

With former President Bill Clinton standing not 20 feet in front of her, Atlanta mayor Shirley Franklin took what appeared to be a political shot at the former president's comments about Barack Obama's candidacy.

Speaking at the 40th annual MLK commemorative service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Franklin said the country is on the "cusp of turning impossible into reality. Yes this is reality, not fantasy or fairy tales."

Clinton, in supporting his wife Hillary's bid for the Democratic nomination, recently took heat for referring to Obama's dramatic rise as a "fairy tale."

Franklin has endorsed Obama, who spoke from the same pulpit at Ebenezer on Sunday.

Today, after Franklin's remarks, the crowd of more than 2000 rose to its feet —except for Bill Clinton, who sat in his front pew seat and clapped politely.

1. So, they continue to lie and distort and get applause.
And use MLK as a political statement. Not using the race card?

If they think this shit helps Obama they are delusional

After the whiplash from backlash they will still be clueless as to what happened

That is a red-herring and you know it. Your faux outrage is laughable. If you are suggesting that it is racist to call a 46 year old who is running for president a "kid" you are blathering.

Clinton was called a kid. JFK was called a kid. Anyone under the age of 50 running for President IS a kid.

By the way, just out of curiousity, do you or don't you think it was disrespectful when:

- One of the Obama campaign staffers referred to Hillary Clinton as "Senator Punjab"

- One of the Obama staffers said "Hillary Clinton is not a phony. She just plays one on tv."

- David Axelrod suggested Hillary Clinton was partly responsible for Butto's death

I am not a Clinton-shipper, but fair is fair. Those comments were taken out of context. I heard the whole segment and he was not calling Obama's candidacy a "fairy tale". However, how can we expect better when we live in a society where a quick sound bite is the gospel truth and some do not bother to do the research to back up any quick, on-the-fly, information that they get?

Once I see the cause, I will reconsider. For now, calling EVERYTHING that EVERYONE says a "RW talking point" is a RW talking point on its own.

35. you're half right
he was talking about the Media's not fully reporting on Obama's alleged anti-war stance.

Since the famously anti-war speech he made on the Illinois State Senate floor, he has then admitted in 2004 that he wouldn't know what he would have done had he been asked to vote (not reported by the media), has taken the speech off his site (said it was "dated" and, again, not reported by the Media) and, since becoming Senator, he's voted lockstep with Hillary in the funding of the war, although they did differ on whether or not General Casey should be the Chief of Staff, US Army (she voted No, he voted Yes).

The anti-war candidate Obama is is one the media has created and not adequately questioned. This the "fairy tale" he was referring to.

That's not name calling, it's simple fact. It is quite readily known exactly what the context of Bill's comments were. For her to continue the simply wrong and ignorant meme that he meant it towards his candidacy, means she was being ignorant; period. That's not name calling. It's simple logical fact.

45. When will Blacks learn?
Bringing race into any discussion is a losing battle. Have they not learned America is reverting into its pre-60's ways?

51. Ex-gay minitries, on the other hand, are perfectly fine.
:sarcasm:

If Obama doesn't get rid of the most recent ex-gay psycho creep, he doesn't deserve the nomination, and if he gets it, I'm writing something in.

I will not vote for him if he doesn't end this. As in, no more ex-gay people, no more homophobes, no more bigots.

I can't vote for people who have the support of those who think I'm sick and need to be 'dealt with'.

I will NOT be voting for Obama. He has already shown me he's a DINO who likes to spend his time with homophobes.

73. The bigdog was better then Nixon and Bush
:toast:
But he still caved on welfare reform and supported the drug war and free trade. Plus he was a bit of a sleezebag.

75. the Clintonite message is that blacks had better get back in their place...
... and leave running the show to "us".

If the Republicans were able to field candidates who took the interests and hopes of the black community seriously, then we'd be in trouble.

ONCE THE REPUBLICONS GET A HOLD OF HIM! The media is helping him now but if he wins the nomination they will be helping the Cons. I am speaking about Obama.
