How low have we sunk that this question needs to be asked?
That question is: When was the last time you heard a "news' organization discuss substantive issues instead of "the horse race"?

I watch news almost non stop and I can't recall.

3. Other than Olbermann or Goodman?
I am not sure issues have anything to do with this race.

4. I've stopped watching the news and I too was a non-stop watcher

But if I were to take a guess.. I'd say 2004. This current election cycle started at the end of the last election cycle and frankly, I no longer have the energy for it.

5. I stopped watching that shit decades ago...
...so I can't answer your question, but I'm not surprised. The last time I had a television during a "major" American news event was during the first Gulf War, back in 1990. Even then it was all spin, all the time, despite all the "independent" reporting from Baghdad hotel rooftops. TV news has been about selling entertainment to viewers for most of the last several decades-- mostly it's a waste of time.

6. Perpetual presidential cycles, non functional voting machines
for which the pollsters are repeatedly blamed = major yawn fest.

Maybe shoot your TV.

Have a nice day.

7. That's why I stopped watching in 2004
I went cold turkey. I kicked the habit of tuning into the news during the dinner hour, switched over to The Simpsons, got the bobbleheads out of my living room and out of my life.

They're great at telling us where a candidate is traveling. They might even show us a photograph. They will never let us listen to what that candidate is saying, nor will they talk about any differences between the candidates unless it's a snarky remark made offhand when somebody was overtired.

Jon Stewart was right. They aren't simply incompetents who don't know how to do their jobs. They are hurting us.

The sooner we start to avoid them completely, get their babbling out of our heads, and concentrate on the few print media that tell us what the candidates themselves are saying, the sooner we'll have an informed electorate.

The more talking the blow dried bobbleheads on TV do, the less we are likely to learn about the issues facing this country. It's an inverse proportion that will not change until corporations rely on journalists rather than personalities and that is just about as likely as the Pope on a pogo stick.

Turn them off. You'll feel better in a remarkably few days.

10. Washington Journal does. Iirc, on Friday, someone was comparing
the candidates economic stimulus packages. The conversation wasn't all that deep but at least it was an attempt.
