Thinking ahead to the GE
no matter who our candidate is, they will face a big mess. By November, I predict the world economy will be in major collapse. It will be vital for the candidate to articulate a doable plan to get us out of our economic misery as quickly as possible. What ways do you see them doing it?

Here's my idea:

1. Get out of Iraq. It is a drain on resources we no longer have-both economic and political

2. Start a drive for alternative fuels and making over this country in a green way--this will generate energy independence while, at the same time, create sustainable jobs here at home.

1. Agree on Iraq -- the FIRST order of business.
We will need some emergency action AS we are establishing a Green Economy, which is a fabulous win-win plan.

2. Raise taxes on the richest folks and use the money to fund
large infrastructure projects - like in the New Deal. Bridges, National Parks, highways, public transportation projects, etc.
Make the switch to single-payer health care to reduce costs and update medical systems. (I know, I'm dreaming here...)
Create incentives for young people to choose service careers like teaching, nursing, elder-care.
These are just thoughts to add to yours. Obviously, we'd have to get out of Iraq before we can do anything productive at home.
Energy independence is at the top of my list too.

3. Exactly.
It isn't the spending that's killing us, it's where we're spending it. We need a 2 trillion dollar plan to rebuild America for the next 100 years. Converting to solar and wind power will go a long way to making us competitive again and balancing out imports.

But spending in America, that's bad. Throwing money down a shit hole like Iraq, that's good. At least that's the way conservatives feel about it.
