AP: Libby jury deliberations enter third day
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17294954

WASHINGTON - A jury considering the perjury and obstruction charges against former White House aide Lewis Libby begins a third day of deliberations this morning.

The Washington jury of eight women and four men has so far spent eleven and a-half hours over the past two days reviewing 14 days of testimony after getting final instructions Wednesday from presiding U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton.

4. In a short answer: Yes
I am not a lawyer, but I think -- it is possible -- that this is a show trial that Cheney ordered.

5. If Libby is found not guilty then
we can assume that the excutive branch and judicial branch have been merged.

6. Fortunately There Are No Fools On The Jury
They could easily acquit the same way. This jury is taking its time to look at a lot of evidence...and appear to be carefully building a timeline to keep fresh in their minds who said what and where. If this is what they are doing, this means they're following the lead of Fitz and ignoring the "he forgot before he knew he forgot" defense.

This is an important trial...and surely that fact weighs on all involved. I have full confidence in the jury process and the careful deliberation that going on.

Patience...the wheel of justice move slow, but move they will.

12. "but when you remembered what you forgot, you remembered that you learned it in June....."
"And so when Tim Russert had this conversation with you, you didn't remember that the Vice President told you in June that Wilson's wife works at the CIA," Fitzgerald said
"but when you remembered what you forgot, you remembered that you learned it in June not to be classified"

fast verdict surely?

8. They have several charges to consider
This certainly is not like a ballgame. People are probably asking questions.

9. Aren't there several charges
that need to be considered? Seems I remember Fitz's press conference a while back and he was talking about obstruction and perjury charges.

I think this is a good sign. The more they review the evidence and testimony the more likely they will find him guilty.

11. They have only been deliberating for 2 1/2 days....
and the charges are not simple. They had asked for flip charts, tape, post-it notes and photos. That certainly doesn't indicate they are buying the memory defense to me. It seems to me they are methodically mapping out each charge, going over the evidence/exhibits that would align with each charge. I wonder how many here would be in a such a hurry to be finished with jury duty that you would vote guilty or not guilty on a complex case just so you could get a fast verdict or get it in before the weekend. I suspect, if one puts themselves in the same position as the jurors are in, the intent would be to get it right no matter how long it takes.

No wonder people bought into e-voting at first, finding out who won fast became more important than accuracy or a system that could be trusted.

Sometimes doing the right thing takes time, whether it is how the votes are counted or the time it takes to reach a just verdict.

19. I have no doubt that is part of it....
They are, I am sure, very aware of the import of the case before them and are taking great care to do due diligence to the task at hand. It is not a simple case and there is a lot to go through to ensure they come to a just verdict, whatever that verdict might be.

14. This is an educated jury...
And educated juries on the average take more time, going over charges and timelines step by step. Of course, there are plenty of exceptions, and no trial attorney will guess at a verdict based on time taken by any jury.

16. Exactly! Ask any lawyer about predicting the outcome of
jury deliberations based on the time taken and they would tell you any lawyer that would do that is one you would NOT want to hire, lol.

15. Let us hope it isn't a tainted jury
Shuster has pointed out there has been some differences on the jury like one not wearing a Valentines shirt that the rest wore

The Guilty verdict is pretty obvious
